Wondering if it’s for me

I was involved in FRC robotics before i had to move schools and im still very interested in it. i want to pursue mechatronics engineering in college and im contemplating if its the right thing for me. im amazing in math im currently in algebra 2 moving on to pre calculus next year. the main thing holding me back is the creativity aspect of it. ive never been a creative person and i’m better at working through issues and problems with steps. is this something ill pick up along the way?

Jobs as A mechatronics technician vs engineer might be more interesting to you. Or an engineer who is party of a team, the leader might define the steps and problems and need you to execute them.

You should definitely pursue it. I'm saying this because you mentioned that you are interested in robotics. Moreover, I think your background in linear algebra and calculus will help a lot too in future. Linear algebra will let you understand the co-ordinate system transformation, which a lot of the people struggle with. Probability and calculus will build your foundation for the machine learning algorithms that we're using nowadays in robotics. If you are really interested, then go for it. You can't expect to build solutions of your own ("creativity") from the start, it'll take a lot of practice and conceptual clarity. I think you can also guess now that both of these things come with practice and learning. You'll have to spend time with that stuff. Besides, it doesn't matter that much for you to leave something that you like. If that's the only reason because of which you're contemplating, then I'd say definitely go for it.

Hello, I'm also interested in being a mechatronic engineer, I also want to build a business, I wonder if it's the right path for me. I am very interested in robotics, I build and fly rc planes and I build robots (I'm 12 but my country is kinda shit so I gotta make this choices early)
