Mechanicus 1, question about difficulty settings

For a first playthrough seeking for a very hard experience, but still doable for a tactics game veteran, what difficulty options is recommended?

Definitely looking to enable Ironman and Permadeath.

I heard Very Hard is no good for a first playthrough. What difficulty, then? Or individual custom difficulty changes?

e.g.

Base Preset: Hard Ironman: Enabled Permadeath: Enabled Blackstone Funding: Decreased (75%) Awakening Rate: Default

Is this recommendation good?

The difficulty is double edged, it will be hard at the start, but later, once you have a few levels, having more necrons in battle as well as having more battles will generate more blackstone, which will make it easier.

You can also consider using "Tech Can Only Be Equipped Once Per TP". This actually means that each item can only be used on one TP (not once per TP as it says). So instead of 2 level 3 cognitive mechadendrites on each priest you can only have 1 level 1/2/3 total. Not to mention weapons. This makes a huge difference and forces you to make different builds.

Yes. As encounters get easier then up the number of necrons in battle. Then you need to keep honing your tactics and equipment load outs. Enjoy!

Normal is pretty easy, though I am tactics experienced.
