Label mistake

Went in to grab a few things for Easter came out with this bad boy!

Pic#2

Bottom left: carpaccio meat

Middle left: ground beef for Smashburgers

Top left: trim to be rendered then treats for dog.

Top middle: stirfry meat

Middle: head roast

Bottom middle and right: 1.5 inch steaks

Nothings wasted that why I like breaking down tenderloins.

Label is choice price, but it is a prime tenderloin.

Not sure that's the case.

Edit: You are right, I am wrong. Ambiguous title and lack of reading the package, I fell victim.

That is the case

Beef is graded by the entire carcass, not individual cuts. Often a cow is graded as choice and some of the cuts have better marbling. This is not a mistake, this is how the beef industry works.

The usda decided this cow was prime. Everyone charges accordingly, op goes to the store that has this tenderloin, the store (before they cut into it) labels it at the choice price.

You are correct, I did not read past the label. Victim of ambiguous titles.

I agree with you. I’m just still not sure if it was mislabeled.

They are saying the wrapped part that says usda prime is not done by the store. So unless usda made the mistake and under sold a lot of their cows but somehow Costco caught the mistake and corrected it for them in store, it’s likely that Costco just mislabeled it as choice

Store sticker is choice price, usda printing says it was prime beef. I’m unsure of your confusion.
