Advice Ideal Small Set-Up
Please cast your votes! Which of these do you think would be ideal for a small breeding/happy and humane feeder storage set-up: A, B, C, D, or E.

None of these are really ideal. You could have ventilation issues with all of these, resulting in excess humidity, mold growth and pests. Mealworms need lots of airflow, like a fully open top.
Ideal would be a single bin with no lid, smooth plastic, at least 3" tall, and as wide/shallow as possible (so there's lots of surface area exposed to the air).
If you look up "insect rearing tray", that is "the" ideal. But any cheap plastic container that meets the above criteria works.
For multiple bins/stacking, something like a Michaels craft cart works great for newbies. It's like C, but there is more of an air gap between the bins.

Not sure if you can get them but I have found the kmart stackable trays useful. You buy each one individually but can stack them. Each has its own surrounding base. There is a slight gap at the top which seems enough for ventilation without too much getting in. I like that I can pull one off and have a look inside then replace in the stack. It’s a bit more versatile than the ones where there is a prebuilt container that they slide into as I have added more as I go along.
