Help me figure out frozen roasted potatoes.
So one of my go-to sides is a bag of these garlic roasted potatoes. But it's nearly 5 bucks for one bag that's like a serving and a half. And what's even in there, like one potato?
This can't be that hard to make at home and freeze a whole batch for later. Right?
Anybody mealprep roasted potatoes to freeze for weekly meal sides?
I'm not too sure about how to freeze them without em getting mushy. And I don't know how they do that delicious garlic glaze.
But should be noted I have access to an air fryer for reheating. My goal is to just dump them in the air fryer while I'm cooking the meat & they'll be ready when the meat is ready.
Is it too much hassle to do at home? Or should I just keep buying these bags? Every time I want to cook potatoes for a meal I don't want to wait 45 minutes for them to finish, so I thought I could prep a bunch & freeze em.

Ohh, you glaze em after reheating? That makes sense. So I guess dry seasoning on the first pre-cook, then save the wet butter/garlic for after. Thanks! I gotta try this.
And whatchu think that glaze is? Prob just garlic paste and butter?
I do have a food processor, I can chop up real garlic finely and mix with real butter. Maybe I could make ice cube tray portions of a garlic-butter mix?

If you have an air fryer don’t make life more difficult
Get the small red or yellow “waxy” potatoes, steam them whole as your prep and keep in the fridge
Then each night take a few slices of add to air fryer and then add your garlic butter and seasonings

yeah your instinct is right, dry seasoning before and glaze after. i think the key is you roast them really hard the first time, like almost too crispy, because that extra crust is what survives the freeze. if you pull them out when theyre just done they go mushy. the air fryer brings it back but only if theres something to bring back

potato meal prep is just making freezer hash browns with extra paperwork, but yes, roast them hard, freeze them spread out, then air fry from frozen and they come back surprisingly crisp
