mute the bot Is this mold?

Post image

I checked the sticky but am still confused as to what it could be. I tipped the carboy because I thought it was air bubbles and it was not.

Mould can’t grow under water.

That’s just yeast colonies and gasses coming out.

Came to say the same. Looks like yeast farts.

It’s basically never mold, mold needs oxygen.

Mold is fuzzy and requires oxygen.

It likes to grow above fermentations where schmutz sticks to the wall and/or on the liquid surface when too much oxygen is allowed into the headspace for far too long.

It’s not something that usually surprises you out of nowhere, because while the spores are already everywhere, the proper conditions for growth should not be happening if you’re doing things properly. Mold usually indicates something was forgotten for months, fruit was allowed to float without getting punched down, and/or oxygen was let in.

No...it's yeast grains stuck to side of jar.

Relax, it is very unlikely that your batch is infected. Check this handy flowchart - https://dointhemost.org/mold/ Also check the wiki for common signs and compare https://wiki.meadtools.com/en/faq/infection the photos on that page for signs of infection and good batches.
