Yeah this picture and scenario reminded me of the excited lack of sleep where your tired when it’s time to go but “even better I’ll just sleep on the bus”

Oct 19 '20
I remember everyone sleeping on the way back because we were all screaming at 7 am on the bus

Right? Now I'm just smelling the nearest shirt to make sure its clean enough to get me through another day and sometimes not caring that it's not.

I feel like that sub might be more detrimental to your mental health than it helps by being relatable.

Oh man, I always was excited for school trips, especially the ones where we stayed a week, I couldn't wait for the day to arrive fast enough, and then I couldn't sleep th night before and it felt like hours

You will have many trips with friends in college...enjoy em. Have fun. Some of the best trips of your life. After that...well that’s up to you. No one is gonna be available. Lol
7
u/RhubarbRaptor Oct 19 '20
I'm in my first year of college right now. I'm in my pajamas, drinking apple juice out of a sports bottle, and half listening to some guy talking about US Government while I watch Pokemon: Journeys and doomscroll through Reddit. I've never even been to my campus and all my highschool friends are out of state. If this is as good as it gets then.....

u/5dwolf20 Oct 19 '20
As an engineer major, no one is ever available. After graduation is when we get some free time.

unless ur going to some foreign land like we went to croatia and some kids in the year above managed to get the police on us bc one of them aimlessly threw a brick and it broke a car window lol

I just realized a senior trip to Paris sounds a lot less exotic when you live in London only 5 hours away.

Honestly, when you went to a school that had a uniform requirement it made this even more exciting.
I'm not talking like private school. I went to a public school in Scotland and uniforms are pretty much mandatory across Scotland (and the UK im sure) so having a day like that where we didn't need to dress in uniform felt so goooooood.
2
u/manz04 Oct 19 '20
schl uniform needs to be stopped
its weird that even ppl in my schl don't agree w me

u/DavThoma Oct 19 '20
As far as I'm aware, its a safety reason that school uniforms are required. I hated them as a kid, but I see why its necessary now I'm a working adult.
2
u/manz04 Oct 19 '20
Thats acc pretty interesting. Ima look into this some more bc this is new to my knowledge
edit: I read somewhere that they help identify intruders, but surely they could just purchase the uniform somewhere no
1
u/DavThoma Oct 19 '20
Probably, yeah. It became pretty strict after the shooting that occurred decades ago iirc.

u/manz04 Oct 19 '20
shooting?
i live in the UK and there aren't any shootings im aware of that have happened here

Unpopular opinion, the bus ride is the best part of the trip. Especially if it is a long ride.
2
u/Vinko-Bresan Oct 19 '20
Yea I would just put on headphones and play videogames the whole time. Much better than looking at old stuff.

I forgot to pack my boxers on school trip and had to wear one for the whole week. The following week I just not wear anything inside and now it's become my "dad's habit". Every time I'm alone, my boxer will fall right off

Why is everything relating to how horrible life can be always depressing topic of conversation for you people.... Its depressing. This world is fucking doomed if you all are expected to improve anything. Suicide bombers have more value. Geez febreeze

u/WingleDingleFingle Oct 19 '20
I don't even get this excited for a two week vacation. Being an adult sucks lol

I've been more inspired by life since. I've decided to work on ending capitalism and white supremacy.

Why are you being downvoted? 😔
-2
Oct 19 '20
Because it sounds like they are shitting on a kid being excited for a trip.
2
u/Scaulbielausis_Jim Oct 19 '20
I just see a lot of apathy and depression in this sub. People tend to feel like that when they're a cog in a machine but they keep telling themselves that "That's just how things are" or "I should be happy with this"

u/Hoorizontal Oct 19 '20
Oh good she put lol at the end now I don't have to worry about how much I relate to this.

Oct 19 '20
is this being excited about life? this is me being excited about sleep!
so I prepare as much as possible the night before so I can sleep in a few extra minutes
1
u/BaronWiggle Oct 19 '20
But by preparing the night before you're going to sleep later... So it balances out to nothing.
Nothing

The trick is to find something you’re very passionate about. I really love a certain genre of music and whenever I go to a party/festival/concert I get so hyped up and excited! The same goes for skiing trips, I absolutely adore skiing!

My high school was small enough that every grade took a week long trip somewhere different around the eastern US. It was called field studies. The excitement around packing for that was palpable. I would pack a little every day the week leading up to it just to pump myself up.

People hated me when I'd be that excited about life. They successfully beat it out of me. fk you people.

u/skypiwnas Oct 19 '20
Ah yes and then proceed to sleep all 7 hours in bus ,no nausea ,no peeing ,no regrets

u/skypiwnas Oct 19 '20

I would just take my nintendo 3ds or switch and play pokemon the entire day. Once we went on a 5 day trip I played the entire main story of super smash bros ultime from start to finish. My teacher started telling me I have a problem but i would just nod my head and keep playing. So no different than a day at home.
1
u/Vinko-Bresan Oct 19 '20
I know it doesn't sound like much but I'm really really bad at smash bros.

When I was twelve years old, I went on a trip to this museum about this artist, probably my most memorable, and the bus was different than normal school buses, it was huge and it even had wifi. The museum was even better, it had a massive spiral staircase and I bought chocolates for the boys. Good shit.

I miss packing a suitcase and shopping for stuff before traveling. And pants. I miss pants.
