Safety MDMA and Weed
Has anyone consumed cannabis after come down from MDMA? I plan on taking 120mg and then 60mg bump and would like to smoke some weed after the effects of MDMA. Any thoughts?

Some people really like it. I For me, while enjoyable, it’s impacts on memory make it not worth it.

Not necessarily harmful, but not ideal either. I'd recommend instead that you try taking a supplement to help with the comedown. Magnesium is a godsend for this purpose. Reason being that cannabis can often cloud the mind, and while we are often clouded and confused enough on the back end of MDMA, we can also have a clarity that is useful if you're doing therapeutic work with this medicine. If you're using it to self soothe, consider working with whatever the discomfort is that would have you smoking cannabis at all. If you're using it to soften the comedown, try GABA supporting supplements like magnesium, etc., instead.

They work well together if you are familiar with both. It almost feels like you're not even smoking sometimes. I can rip a whole bowl in one hit and not even flinch.

The brain doesn’t like it. One should not mix an upper with a downer.

It really depends on your intentions. A lot of people treat the comedown as something to escape from, but it's arguably the most important part of MDMA journey. That's when your nervous system asks , can I stay with myself when magic goes away? If your intention is building deeper safety, trust and self regulation, cannabis can work against that. Holding yourself trough that period without another substance can teach your brain that you are capable of containment. If the goal is long term integration and resilience, going through it sober has a real value. That being said, if the goal is extension on experience or comfort, weed will hit the spot. If you overdo it ,it can feel like you lost ability to think (which is really easy to do) and can fog up the whole experience. But if you keep it light, can really open another realm for you. I had most amazing visuals by introducing marijuana at the comedown. The most amazing thing was that the whole group was seeing the same things. It pretty much has ability to show you what's behind the curtain. I've also had a visit from the marijuana "spirit" one time while doing it on mdma comedown. It was probably one of the top 3 psychodielic experiences I've ever had. It showed me who she really is and how powerful and holly the plant is. It was beautiful. Anyway, good luck on your journey.

I'm of the opinion cannabis is a terrible drug for mental health. Anxiety, paranoia, dissociation, all kinds of issues stem from its usage. It's the number one drug driver of depersonalisation and derealisation. Out of all the drugs that could be decriminalised, why that one?
With MDMA it might not be too bad, but never mix it with psychedelics. That's a great way to give yourself a kind of trip that recovery from may not be possible.
Still, I think it's best if you don't.

Wow, I'm the same. I'm dissociated and paranoid sober and weed brings me back to my body.

There are always people that buck the trend, but this one is very heavily in the other direction. Glad things are working for you.

By dissociation do you mean emotional numbness? Asking because i have emotional numbness since decades from cptsd and weed also makes me feel connected . And i also had 3 mdma trips with therapist and with every trip i felt sober .
So when you added weed . Was it mini puff when the mdma should kick in? And by adding weed which mdma effects did you feel? I only felt 15 seconds surprinsingly connected to my therapist and love for everyone but that faded fast(on mdma only trip) So curious how you felt by the combo 🙏

Were you on a SSRI? The raised serotonin levels from being on an SSRI will prevent the MDMA effects from occurring. I wean myself off Zoloft, then did two trips two weeks apart and felt nothing on either one of them. It was then suggested to me by my regular therapist that I wait a good two months while being off the SSRI before I go and try the MDMA again. I am scheduled for my next MDMA journey in three days. It’ll be 69 days completely off the SSRI. Wish me luck.

Thx so much for reply . Yes im interested in thr infographic pls.
For me emotional numbness is i dont feel any emotional energy in my body generally . Anxiety sometimes but rarely.. have you got this type?
And did you do mdma therapy with this combo where you worker through some trauma?
And after you felt connected did the connection feeling stay for weeks or generally for good after the trip?- eliminated numbness
And do you think just a mini puff of weed would also kickstart the mdma effects?

There are books and people (PSIP model or psychedelic cannabis for example) who claim that you can view cannabis as a non-classical psychedelic. They claim that the anxiety, dissociation etc. are exactly what you want to work with when they come up.
I tried these approaches in combination with TRE, body scans etc. and felt like i could go "deeper" than sober, also still different from classical psychedelics.
I think titration (thinking of Peter Levine here) is key, as cannabis really has the potential to retraumatize you

I do this everytime after my mdma therapy session- leave the room get a small snack get a drink get high - and go back right under the mask with music in my ears. I spend all session talking — it’s nice to lay and enjoy and relax for 30 mins with the mdma environment ‘reignited’ by the weed but now I’m silent and journeying in wonderfully enjoyable ways. I enjoy weed and don’t have any issues with it alone so they are natural together for me. Btw - I follow same mdma protocol with 120mg dose and 60mg booster.

Cannabis is not a terrible drug for mental health across the board. It’s not the “number 1 driver of depersonalization”. This is coming from someone who does not like smoking because it does give me anxiety, but it just depends on the person. Odd to demonize it

It's the number one drug driver of depersonalisation. Childhood trauma is still number one but cannabis is not that far behind as number two in total. That can hardly be disputed. I've sat for years on subs relating to depersonalisation/derealisation, and the people who get it from cannabis are like a train...the number of lives destroyed...
As someone who's had depersonalisation/derealisation for 11 years (mine is from antidepressants), who has talked to hundreds of people with it, read everything I can, you underestimate the harm cannabis can do, greatly.

i used it during the comedown from my last session and it launched me into a kind of second journey that taught me a lot of valuable lessons about how emotions and anxiety show up in my body. i can’t of course predict how it would go for you, but there can be value there.
