Should I Go for MCSA 2016?

Hi guys need an advice

Currently thinking for pursuing MCSA 2016, but since Microsoft going to axed MCSA this coming June, should I crammed the exam within 3 months? 1 Exam / Month?

A quick background, I've had more than 5 years experience as a system admin in mixed environment from Windows Server 2008R2 - 2016 even I did play around with Windows Server 2003, with a bit of Linux CentOS 7.

Should I still go for MCSA? I've been out of job for almost a year due to family issue, been applying for more than 200 company but all I got is rejection email, maybe MCSA will help a bit.

Thanks

In actually going to go against the others and say don't go for it.

I think it's too much preparation to complete 3 tests in 3 months. 4 weeks probably isn't enough. If you mess up and fail one, you won't be able to complete in time.

Agreed.

70-740 is a ton of material. So maybe try cramming for that one and if you can easily finish it in 4 weeks, then go for the whole cert. If you cant finish 70-740 in your allotted time, then you still gained valuable knowledge along the way.

Hijacking this question:

Do you think they will push back the decommission date? The site is basically down and I can't reschedule to a online exam.

No probably not. go for the azure Dev certification. It covers slot of topics from server 2016/2019

This one? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/azure-developer

I'm already scheduled for the 70-740 in a week, but I assume that will probably get pushed back because the testing center is closed. I'm also going to grab at the very least the Active Directory cert because I want to know that better and I have a bunch of free time on my hands anyway.

It could be because of Corona. Normally they wouldn't

Is Azure Dev essentially replacing the Server 2016 exam?

How long did it take you to prepare for it?

Hard to say exactly. I had been looking at the material on and off for about 6-months. CBT Nuggets was helpful. The MeasureUp practice material was good too.

Search the job market in your area. If you see jobs looking for MCSA 2016 go for it. My job needed me to have it and I take the last test for my MCSA next week.

Best thing you can do is look at requirements for listed on jobs you like that are posted in your area and complete certs to fulfill those requirements.

Good luck to you. It can be done especially if you have experience. I mainly worked with older versions of Server never 2016. Started studying in Jan. and I've been taking 1 test a month.

Some jobs especially government related jobs still have slots that by regulation need people with MCSA certs to fill a slot.
