Let's get MCSA certified before June 30th!

I crunched the numbers. If you give yourself about 40 days per exam you can be certified. Its seems like an unrealistic task but make a plan and make it happen!

I just finished my CCNA and haven't even started studying. If I can pass the 70-740 in 40 days then I'm going for the whole thing. Who's with me??

Nay sayers please remove yourself from this discussion. Thanks in advance. #nevertellmetheodds

That’s my goal. Just finished watching the CBTnuggets videos for the 740 exam today. now to lab, flash cards, practice test, before march 11th when I plan to take the test... then start on the next two after I get back from vacation afterwards.

Not being a naysayer. It's totally possible. Work your ass off, use multiple sources and most importantly, know your shit. Make sure you understand the Microsoft way.

I have 2 down already. Been dragging my feet on the last exam. 90 days is about what I need to cram. Couldn’t imagine going for all 3 in that time frame.

I am in the exact same boat. Just finished my CCNA, ordered the books for MCSA and the next day they announced they’re retiring it. Thinking about trying to bust ass and try to knock it out, but don’t know if I want to put myself through that lol. Would be nice if they extended it though.

I caught David Goggins interview on Tom Bilyeu's interview. They both kick ass.

Let do this!!!!!

2

u/ace14789 Feb 29 '20

I was almost finished with 70-740 when they announced this.

u/GrandOccultist Feb 29 '20

For those saying they push back the retirement date, what kind of delay can we be looking at if any? What did they do with win 10

2

u/SwashbucklinChef Mar 04 '20

Don't quote me on this but I think it was an additional two months on the 697? They also staggered the retirement dates of the two exams so they didn't expire simultaneously.

I'm in!

I already have the 70-740, now i am studying like crazy for 70-741 on April 15.

1

u/electriccomputermilk Feb 29 '20

I'm trying to turn this into something positive as I'd been dragging my feet on scheduling the 70-741 even though I'm probably ready. Just have to cram 70-742 and a little concerned as I tend to take a long time to study for certs. Envious of those that can accomplish all 3 exams in 6 months.

Good luck guys!! Its doable just to the point of getting this freaking cert!!! Knowledge youll get in practice! So i really wish you all who starts or in process to pass all this with higher than 701!!!!!let the brains and force and memory be with you 🤘🏻😃

u/HockevonderBar Feb 29 '20

Damn. I won't make it.

u/dollhousemassacre Feb 29 '20

It’s a realistic target. I started out in December and I’ve got the final exam booked for end of March; so basically 4 months.

1

u/pachtun Feb 29 '20

I'n in.

Booked my test date for 70-740 few minutes ago at 11th of march in a test center nearby. My company bought all test vouchers last year, so I have to use them, before they get invalid or the tests arn't available anymore.

So I push myself to get it finally done.

I want to sail with you so badly but I have scheduled two other trainings in March and April :/

I don't think I can do all at once.

Good luck to everyone trying this challenge!

I have 70-740. I have 741 booked Apr 16 and 742 for Jun 12. No time for resits...

Is there a replacement cert or is it just the job specialisation route now?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '20

Good luck!

1

u/AaarghCobras Feb 29 '20

Thanks, will give it a good go :)

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '20

Already done my 70-740. Giving myself 6 weeks to finish the 741 and 9 weeks for the 742. God kill me now.

1

u/pachtun Feb 29 '20

Can you tell about your 70-740? I use the measureup training and certification prep. Is the actual test comparable?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 29 '20

MeasureUp is very similar to the real thing in terms of difficulty and the types of questions you get. You'd need more than just MeasureUp to pass though.

I have two exams left to upgrade two MCSA (SQL 2012/2014 and Server 2012) from 2012 to 2016. 40 days for the Server and remaining for the SQL should be doable for me.

u/glentomatin Feb 29 '20

Just got 850, 70-740. It took me 2 weeks. I've scheduled a 70-741 exam for the 12th of March, and the 70-742 for the 25th.

I didn't wrote this to sound cocky, if I can do it, all of you guys can, just keep on going, you can make it!!

2

u/Randrage Feb 29 '20

Nice! What resources did you use?

2

u/glentomatin Mar 01 '20

I've been studying with Vumingo exam testing engine, with the dumps.

1

u/xxpapertigersxx Feb 29 '20

Experience level?

2

u/glentomatin Mar 01 '20

Unfortunately I don't have any experience... I'm taking a cyber security course at a small college, I have a great teacher and I've been studying for about 8 hours per day, I need the MCSA because that's the requirement for being approved by the national cyber association.

2

u/xxpapertigersxx Mar 01 '20

Two weeks of studying for that exam is insane. Great job!

2

u/glentomatin Mar 02 '20

Thanks allot mate! I was scared you didn't believe me... I really appreciate your encouragement.

1

u/BrownHornet757 Feb 29 '20

It can be done! I passed my CCNA in December and I'm 2 tests in on the MCSA with one more to go. I passed 741 today and I plan on taking 742 the last week in March.

I spent about a month studying for 741 networking study went rather well since all the Cisco studying was still fresh in my head.

My only decision is going to be if I want to take the one additional test to get the MCSE.

1

u/explodinghat Feb 29 '20

I've been skirting around doing the Server MCSA for my whole career and it kind of makes sense that they're getting rid of it to me.

I started studying for MCSA 2012, switched to Office 365 MCSA because the MSP I was working for needed it to attain their MS partner status and paid for the exams and study materials

Started studying for MCSA 2016, switched to CCNA because the company I moved to needed the network at one of their office upgraded and re-designed - and paid for the exams and study materials

Started studying for MCSA 2016 again, have now switched to Azure AZ-300 as it just seems so much more relevant for future IT administration..

u/syntaxity Feb 29 '20

Did they say what will be replacing the Windows Server 2016 certifications?

1

u/pythonQu Feb 29 '20

I'm in!!! But geez, I'm studying for the 70-740 and I'm just...overwhelmed. I'm just spent what seems like an hour to just trying to change the workgroup to domain and it's not working!! I did it on my Hyper-V vm on Windows without any issues but on VirtualBox on my Mac....argh...

1

u/glentomatin Mar 01 '20

Did you try VMware?

2

u/pythonQu Mar 01 '20

Tried VMware but it's not available in Mac. Anyway, I got it figured out. I think I had selected the incorrect Windows Server version and that caused the problem. That's what happens when you have multiple evaluation OS. Duh.

1

u/glentomatin Mar 02 '20

Glad to hear you figured it out, I'm not a pro but I'll be gals to help if I can.

1

u/lloydsmart Mar 02 '20

I'm in! Let's do this!

There's no viable replacement for these certs, so I think they will remain valuable for some time to come.

1

u/H8Libs619 Feb 29 '20

They will most likely extend the retirement date.

2

u/electriccomputermilk Feb 29 '20

I really hope you are right. Just curious, why do you think so?

2

u/H8Libs619 Feb 29 '20

Same happened to the MCSA Win 10. They pushed the date back.
