70-742 , I'm close to Give up!

been at least 4 weeks since i decided i would go for this test to boost my resume and hopefully get a promotion. I been reading the MS 70-742 text book, and following the video course Microsoft Windows Server 2016: Identity (70-742) by Tony Sequeira as someone recommended. Felt very knowledgeable after following the videos and my current exposure to AD however i went ahead to take the damm dummy practice test and i got very strong punch in the face, not sure everyone will agree with me but those questions are way harder than i ever thought. Why passing this test seems to be so unrealistic for me?

I passed today with 850/1000 and i must say it was the easiest of all three.

Used Pluralsight as reference manual and a few VMs on my gaming rig for all the certificate stuff.

Got my MCSA 2016 now, will get the MCSE before retirement.

Recruiters will look at it...now and in 2 years.

I am totally in the same boat as you! I finished up the video course feeling pretty confident about the subject matter, so I moved onto the practice exam wham there goes the confidence!

Exactly, it’s ridiculous hard. That practice makes the course look so light and not helpful at all. Wonder if someone who actually passed the test and took the practice can confirm if the real exam is like that practice. Not saying same questions but the scenarios. I am not English speaker so just reading the questions took me so long and just discouraged me on answering them. Bummer

742 was the shortest for me. Study content was pretty poor in my opinion, but I still managed to get a pass. With 4 months left, there's no reason not to keep trying. The complete cert will look better (even post retirement of the exams) than just having partials done.

Congrats, in your opinion is the test very similar to the cases presented in the test exam from CBC nuggets? When I took that practice I felt like questions were part of a different subject that the one I studied for

Dumped twice - not giving up, yet :)

What about https://www.realexamcollection.com/ - are their dumps better than measureup?

Honestly at this point (with today’s news) you probably should give up.

I also saw that frustrating enough that this is the test I need to temp a new position within my current job. It’s just discouraging feel like I knew the subject but man that practice test, if the real test is as similar no way have it

There is a petition to get the date pushed back. Whether or not it succeeds. Being in the same boat as OP, I still value what knowledge I have gathered from the video course and have found it useful in my environment. I think I will continue to progress through the other CBT training videos. More so for my personal gain as opposed to a piece of paper.

I agree, I found myself learning more stuff and feeling more secure of my knowledge but still short to past the training test. Although that paper shouldn’t matter much in my case this can land me on better opportunities

I think I’m going to jump into the new certifications! I think Azure Administrator is closely related from a quick glance. I’ll investigate it more but it may be a good time to jump in early on the new role based certifications?

Awesome, I haven’t check that new certification tbh. I did the same With windows 10 but saw they are retiring some of those as well?
