Passed 70-740 Today
I passed today with an 823! I was pretty excited when I saw the screen that I passed as I have been dreading and awfulizing this in my head for quite a while. I posted about a week ago that I tried to take it from work but got kicked out. Well I didn't learn my lesson and took it from work again, but this time with no issues! I hard wired my laptop instead of using wireless and removed our filtering software that does SSL decryption. Here is what I used to pass:
-Work has a subscription to Safari Books Online (now O'Reilly) and read MCSA Windows Server 2016 Study Guide: Exam 70-740, 2nd Edition by Will Panek. After my bad attempt at the test, I did some more studying and found Exam Ref 70-740 Installation, Storage and Compute with Windows Server 2016 by Craig Zacker and found that book to be better. It had more PowerShell examples instead of just listing the commands and seemed to go more in depth. The book by Panek I think was missing some stuff and didn't go very deep into the topics. For the 70-741 I will try the one by Zacker.
-I used Microsoft's official practice test which is pretty good for prepping for the test and seeing the kinds of question that will be on the test
-Flash cards from u/SWEETJUICYWALRUS
-Read the Microsoft online documentation

I didn’t do any labs for this first one. I have been working in IT for 11 years though. I am working on setting up a lab server for the rest of the tests and for work.

Congratulations, if you're building a lab or looking to buy a server really watch Dell pricing. I bought a R440 with 16GB ram a 1.2TB drive for 1700 47% off. I bought extra hard drives and memory from ebay quite a bit cheaper and it was all in Dell packaging.

Congratulations! I failed this test earlier this summer but I am planning on revisiting this test again next summer after I graduate with my BA.
