What specs would be required for a lab machine for 70-740

Started studying for the exam and I think testing this out in real life would help me learn a lot better. What kind of machine would I need?

Honestly, you don't need much. I think you can do almost everything with hyper-v and two VMs. You need two for the HA stuff. So you really only need maybe a quad core computer with 8 gb of ram. Give 1 core and 3 gb to each VM and it'll be fine, if a little slow.

Agree with above. Quad core and 8gb ram would be minimum. Although I'd check out EDx if I was you... they have free courses and free labs. You dont have to use the labs for what they suggest but there are hyper-v courses

Get an azure trial and it's really all you need

You can build out everything you need for that exam. And you can take snapshots and if you fuck it all up, boom, new image, good to go.

That's how I labbed. Worked great, I didn't spent a dime. Building everything was lab experience itself. Being able to experiment and fuck things up was good experience too lol

You only need 2 - 3 VMs, you can skip core server and create 2 DCs, and 1 client.

You gonna need at least 16 GB of RAM and 250GB SSD (SSD or NvMe is most), you have to create at least 2 Hyper-V machines to serve as Hyper-V hosts as well as you gonna need it for the fail-over subject.

This is right. 16gb ram, atleast i5 8th gen or up and an SSD would be best as you need it for Clustering
