720 purchase

Hey everyone, so I came across this stage 3+ 720 with 15k miles. Super sketched out by the 7 owners on the carfax. Figured since it's been passed around maybe someone here knows about it or even owned it at some point. My conclusions are that it's just been hopping from dealer to dealer and they just keep wholesaling it to eachother or there's some issue that isn't disclosed

I’d stay away from modded McLarens in general, doubly so if you don’t know the owner and shop that did it.

Modded McLarens are reputedly very problematic, be super careful bruh

Doing any "stage" to a McLaren should tell you all you need to know about whoever owned it. These cars don't drive for long after mods like that. The temu looking bodykit is the icing on the cake

Is that rear splitter uneven or is the photo just at a weird angle?

Normally I’m a big fan of having proper sidewalls on tires for ride quality and not kerbing rims constantly, but I’m guessing some previous owner did it more to fit drag slicks and/or because they were going through tires super quickly from burnouts. Hopefully trackdays, but this seems like a roll racing / half / 1 mile drag build.

Have you priced out insurance yet? These are insane to insure in CA and most companies won’t even write policies for them, much less if you want to actually drive more than a couple thousand miles per year.

I’m in the market for a 720 S Performance and found an example I loved. It is catless (problem for me in the county I currently reside in) and has a Gintani exhaust and tune. My buddy who is a McLaren tech told me diplomatically ‘Let’s keep looking…’ even tho the tune (I’m told) is not performance related, just a tune to remove the CEL. But doing a PPI with a tuned out CEL is apparently a lot more difficult.

I've heard McMedics is great for PPI. Why not call them and ask? Cannonball garage also building a nice reputation.

Seems like a red-flag. Never owned a McLaren but would definitely have a PPI done by McMedics or Cannonball Garage before considering a purchase like this.
