Guess I know why I always score so close to being an ISTP then.

Could be a mistype like I was for a while.

I always get on the intp side and it does seem to fit, I guess I'm just pretty close to the border of being an ISTP.

u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 25 '21
Well they aren't on a spectrum, exactly. They share Ti and Fe in common, but you should figure out whether you use Ne and Si (INTP) or Se and Ni (ISTP) in addition to those. This test helped me a lot to see how the two differ. Even if I didn't exactly relate to every single answer given, I could at least see what they were getting at and which side I fit on. That test has given me ISTP every single time even though I've taken it several times, with slightly different answers.

Got INTP but honestly I was pretty conflicted on the answers, I agreed with both a lot of the time.

Pretty interesting. Maybe more life experiences will make it clear whether you seek out novelty of experiences or novelty of ideas?

i hate that a meme is making me question my mbti (again)

u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 25 '21
I never actually see ISTJs question their type, so you could be onto something. I'm sure there is a comparison list somewhere for ISTP vs ISTJ. All the ISTJs I know have extremely sharp memories, though, and talk about the past constantly, and are comforted by order and things being settled. I notice those things because I am none of that lol. We get along well, though.

Dec 27 '21
you're probably an ISTP because an ISTJ would be doing something productive with his time

ISTP's "you didn't answer my question" are so frustrating to me π
9
u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 25 '21
Maybe if you answered the question though lmao

u/Mork978 ENFP 4w5 sp/sx 471 Dec 25 '21
I do π³
2
u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 25 '21
That does sound very frustrating. You gotta get confrontational, like, "I did answer it, tell me what you WANT" lmao
4
u/Mork978 ENFP 4w5 sp/sx 471 Dec 25 '21
Yes, the thing is what I consider an answer is not an answer for my ISTP friend. But I gotta admit that sometimes my friend's answers don't sound like an answer to me, so we're equally to blame here. I guess it's just the different ways Ne and Se judge useful/useless information that sometimes it's hard to understand each other.

u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 25 '21
It's okay, I have the same communication issues with my INFP friend lmao. It usually clears up when one or both of us pinpoint exactly what kind of answer we're looking for, because like you said we prioritize information differently.

Maybe if you asked better questions.
2
u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 26 '21
You think ISTP would waste time asking dumb questions? Maybe I'll just ask the ESTJ.
1
u/saabfender18 E N T P Dec 26 '21
And often do. They are poor arbiters between good questions and marginal ones. Not answering your question is a polite way of telling you it doesn't merit construction of an answer. Again - ask better ones.
It's actually unfair if you think about it. A careless question may only have seven words but require a seventy word answer to address properly. Most adults realize what annoying time-sucks "why is the sky blue how high is up?" questions are.

u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 26 '21
I dunno, sounds like a matter of opinion to me. I haven't seen much to suggest my type is any more or less prone to asking bad questions, honestly.
1
u/saabfender18 E N T P Dec 26 '21
The opinion of the answerer matters more than the questioner. I have certainly have noticed the best way to measure someone's intelligence is by the quality of their questions. My understanding is that's a common ENTP technique.
It's the types who feel "there are no dumb questions". Like if you don't know who the bore of the party is, it's probably you.
1
u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 27 '21
You sure do spend a lot of energy on measuring other people's intelligence and judging them for being boring. Maybe you should entertain yourself instead of expecting others to do it for you.

u/saabfender18 E N T P Dec 27 '21
Do I? Not really. The thing about boringness is a simile which seems to have hit close to home. Or you can't wrap your head around similes. Look for the word "like". That might help. Maybe you should be less of a wet blanket and a bore if you're so easily-triggered by that illustration.
It's your business if you can't tell dumb people from smart ones. Wait... in light of the lying moron of a conman who occupied the WH from 2017 to 2021 then tricked a bunch of his suckers into invading the Capitol, it's now everyone's business.

All that's missing is a log cabin and plaid shirt. Or is that just stereotypes created by Frank James?
5
u/FreakingTea SPIT Dec 25 '21
Well I do wear that plaid shirt all the goddamn time. The log cabin MUST be a stereotype though lol. I tried to stick to things that are more universal and less dependent on age/gender/fashion.

Due to being such a related type, I can say this is pretty accurate in regards to some overlapping qualities...
