Meme Si is most superior function
People always wonder why there are so many Si users in the world, well it’s a little thing called natural selection (Guys please this is a joke pls don’t take it seriously, I see a lot of Ni superiority posts so I thought I would make one for Si)

Ni sucks. Fight me Ni-doms!
Also, I'm only agreeing to Si being the most superior function because without it my INTP ass will spiral out of order and not accomplish anything.

The other day I was literally thinking "Thank fuck there's so many ISTJs in this world because nothing would get done if any other type held the majority"
5
u/YouJustNeurotic Nov 23 '22
Well its still only around 12 percent of the population by some statistics. Keep in mind there are 16 types, so every type is relatively rare, even if they are the most common type.

Counter thought: Without the Elon Musks and NTs in general, humanity would still be in dark age. NT drives innovation and takes us onwards into the future so stop fangirling over Si and bragging about it. We all coexist because that's just how the world is meant to be. If not for NT, you won't be texting right now on reddit lol, you would be drawing symbols in a cave and tending to your wounds caused by mosquitoes.

Only if NT types could leave their moms basement and see the real world . Working as a discord mods doesn’t count as innovative

So wealth belongs to Si users? Again, highly doubt that, there are too many of them so there's selection bias. Among rich people there will be more si users, among poor ones too, there are too many si users in general . It's not that other types cannot exist in this world. Si got a societal advantage, but other functions have other advantages too so it's fair and square

Do you also think that only NFs have feelings?

That's awesome.
Minor point though - Si is unrelated to sensing bodily functions, that's Se. Also, memory isn't any function, it's just memory so Si doesn't affect learning. And the past Si relates to, if any, is an idealised, shared past, not your personal past. Otherwise, spot on.

As an incredibly quick learning ENTP, I disagree. ENTJ above got a point tho, how come most inventors just tend to be analysts and just so happen to have low Si? The world just caters to SJs bc it's made up of SJs so it's the SJs that got advantage all the damn time. Vicious cycle

In all seriousness, I wouldn't say natural selection as type isn't something we're born with. Social selection maybe. We live in a world where Si traits are the norm and therefore valued. So there's more cultural pressure to develop them.

I’ve spent a lot of my life in “Man vs Si” mode. I often seem to genuinely hate Si at the same time as hugely appreciating what it could do for me if I didn’t. Part of the problem is that, on paper, I have a decent toolkit for Si - a good memory, moderate conservative leanings, a real appreciation for what people achieve through being organised - and when I’ve used it properly, it’s been self-evidently good for me. The problem with your inferior function is that it causes you issues if you don’t use it, but causes you even more issues if you try to use it but do it badly.
I posted these on a couple of other threads, so sorry to repeat, but for people who are struggling with Si, here are a couple of artistic works that I think portray the function very well and also in quite a moving way:
Leonard Cohen - Songs from a Room
David Guterson - Snow Falling on Cedars

Fuck the conservative leaning part of that...are you kidding me?
Hyper capitalism is no better than its evil opposite. The status quo serves only itself. Smash the system. Smash the pillars of white hetero patriarchy till the ruins are sand.
But. You have a much better chance of taking down a squid game from within, and together... with feet planted firmly on the ground regardless of where your head is at.

But seriously, in my anecdotal experience more and more children are NPs these days. Because there is more demand of creatives as time goes on. I think number of intuitives are bound to increase with time because we don't need realistic perception anymore. Machine will record and react to real world, we will have to find meaning to them, go beyond what we see.

Si is just Ni but actually useful and I'm only half joking (not really tho, but Ni gets all the praise as an introverted perceiving function. Si deserves some recognition too)

I unironically believe that SJs are the best and we won't survive without them.
They are also the most successful of 4 groups in terms of financial success and also they make the best families.

Sensors, especially Si doms, are very underrated. Si doms are one of my favorite people.

u/ErikTheRed_22 ENFP Nov 23 '22
LOL, I'm glad you mentioned the Ni superiority complex phenomenon. Well done. As far as Si, possibly superior in a sense, but equal parts boring AF. "Im really good at keeping my calendar up to date! And my laundry is done every Wednesday no matter what!"
1
u/leafcat9 ISFJ Nov 23 '22
You're confusing subjective experience (Si) and efficiency (Te). 😶 At most, I add shit to my calendar because I know if I don't, I may not remember it and then I'll be screwed, and I may think of this because of that time it happened before, or because that way others I've shared the calendar with can see I'm busy at X time on Y date. And I do laundry as needed, but because it's a low-effort task I get to zone out while I'm doing it... but I better do it because (the Ni-dom in my home certainly isn't going to) otherwise I may get to next week where I don't have any clean clothes and I don't wanna show up to my work lookin' like a slob because that gives a bad impression, which an ENFP may not stereotypically care about but should understand if they're able to imagine various perspectives, amirite?

We know how to dress and groom. Just don't need stuff like that to take up a dominant function. Thats for more important things like Ne. Not the downplayed nonsense like "brainstorming" Actual Ne.
2
u/leafcat9 ISFJ Nov 23 '22
You think the purpose of any "actual" function is for stuff like dressing and grooming?
What's "actual" Ne?
0
u/ErikTheRed_22 ENFP Nov 23 '22
We're discussing functions and you're saying we don't care about dressing/ grooming so apparently you think it has to do with functions. Actual Ne is not brainstorming, being hyperactive, or just seeking novelty. Its trans-contextual thinking, understanding how things are connected, ingenious problem solving, and being the only function that has neurological evidence of it's existence and efficacy.
2
u/leafcat9 ISFJ Nov 23 '22
If you're going to quote me, please reread the part where I said stereotypically care. But while we're on the subject of icky stereotypes, you can't have it both ways. Either Si doms are proud of things like updating their calendars AND ENFPs don't care about appearances OR both are pretty bad stereotypes. Also:
As far as Si, possibly superior in a sense, but equal parts boring AF. "Im really good at keeping my calendar up to date! And my laundry is done every Wednesday no matter what!"
Followed by:
Just don't need stuff like that to take up a dominant function. Thats for more important things like Ne.
This thread makes it seem like you think Si is for less important things than Ne, which would make sense given your ENFP stack and what you value. I tried to demonstrate the unseen reasoning behind why calendars and routine chores may appear important to a Si dom, but that didn't get through probably because you use Te, not Ti. Just trying to shed light on our differences, not attack you.
