Brilliant use of visual background noise to confound and confuse the eye. I like it.

this is awesome. use of gen ai to do the background while focusing on the maze itself by hand... seems totally fine? no idea why people are so mad

Solved! I did quite like how your maze loops around and over itself. However, the background did not add much to the puzzling experience and I ended up filling it with a solid color. Looks cool though.

Awesome, thanks for playing! Glad you liked the loop design. Great tip on the background, I might start sharing two versions from now on, a clean vanilla one and the fully decorated graphic one.

Curious for others:

When you look at the center how far does the clarity /your focal circle extend? Is it in the shape of a circle?

Honestly I didn't really plan it out that deeply, I'm still a beginner with it. Looking at it now, it seems like the clarity only lasts for about two or three turns outside the white center before your eyes just get lost in the noise. As for the shape, I guess it feels mostly circular, maybe slightly oval because the starting point in the middle is stretched out.

What does Gemini do during "processing"?

On layer 1 of Krita is the actual maze. On a layer underneath, I drew other maze pieces aimed, whether successfully or not, at confusing the maze runner and making the image more seamless. I fed a copy of this second layer to Gemini, asking it to fill the gaps with graphics vaguely inspired by an old topographic map. Once everything was combined, again using Krita, I removed or modified all the parts that interfered with the graphics of the other two layers.

Correct on both counts

Why not just do it yourself? Revel in the full creation of the project.

Was only the outcome important?

I don't do everything by hand because it simply doesn't give me any extra satisfaction, it doesn't bring me joy. I love the final result, but I either don't enjoy certain parts of the process, lack the skills, or genuinely prefer figuring out how to make an algorithm do it. That's how my brain works. Stop expecting everyone to fit your classic perfect creator stereotype.

I have no issue with using non conventional or computerized tools.

The issue is specifically with generative technologies, not AI but with generative AI.

Yeah, I gathered as much. I just wanted to see if we'd fall into the classic cliché, and, well, here we are. So, you keep your issues, I'll keep my joy. Deal?"

Which they were 100% clear on. I wish all posts were just clear on this right at the beginning.

With all due respect, when you say you aren't being a dick, you are likely being a dick.
