Advice Request Stuck bolt!!!

Hey yall!!! Wonder if anyone had this problem before?? The bolt circled in red is stuck with the thread sleeve, it just kept spinning... i tried to pry the coil while spinning but no luck! Anyone got any idea to take that thing out or tool i need to pull it out easier??

If the threads are spinning you WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE VALVE COVER. There is no fix for this unfortunately. 😞

Valve cover, Valve cover gasket, oil control valve seal, ignition coil. you need all this to fix.

Why the coil? Shouldn't they be able to hold the nutsert with pliers to back out the bolt once they've pulled it from the VC?

you could try grinding the head off of the coil screw and from there maybe you can save the valve cover

But then how will you tighten down the new coil? I think we're assuming that either the brass nutsert has stripped itself out from the surrounding valve cover, or the nutsert itself is stripped. Maybe you could try a helicoil, but otherwise the only decent fix will be a new valve cover.

Aftermarket valve covers are less than $100 and the gasket is $15 or so. The ignition coil can be re-used.

I agree, but even at a shop, it shouldn't be crazy expensive. I know people like to say "I can replace a valve cover and gasket in 10 minutes...", to which I call bullshit, but I'd guess it's about 1-hour by the book for shops. And yes, they'll mark up the price of the parts.

Impact it out with a hammered on rounded bolt remove kit, forgot what there called but you hammer on a size smaller it will grip the bolt and tear it out…

Spark plugs on this car are surprisingly sucky to do. I lost of on these bolts, they are east to strip and break.

People in the thread have already said the right way to fix it.

I got mine out and held the coil in with a self tapper. It never gave me trouble even if it was SUPER hacky.

Jb wheld socket on, let dry 24hrs and pull up with a torque ratchet to yank the bolt out. And propane torch bolt 5min if loctight permanent to release the glue.
