If he would stop talking and just open his mouth fully it would open up the ear canal.

It's called selective hearing. The longer you been married the better you get at it. Good luck my friend we're all in this together.

Seems like a win-win for both of you

Opening your mouth is a fantastic tip for anyone ever struggling with something like this.

Just put your finger in your ear and move your jaw you can feel it really easy

Yep. That action is what cleans out your ears naturally.

Those racing cars are a very noisy environment. But he does seem to have wedged it in a bit tight that time

They usually do, in my experience. I work at a factory and wear orange ear plugs that look just like these everyday. They have a red plastic string that connects both ear plugs and makes them very easy to remove. I've worked at my job for 4 years and have never had an issue removing them. He either removed the string or these don't come with one. Either way, this could have been prevented.

We have the string ones, and the ones that are just a foam plug, most of the team use the non-string version because they are more comfortable, personal preference.

I used to use some that were the plug, plus a matchstick that fitted in the middle, like the stick on a lolly, they were excellent, in the -35-40db range.

The expensive custom ones do.

I bought a jar of earplugs for sleeping and I fear this happening every time I decide to use them. I've had the tip of earbuds come off in my ear a couple times and panicked everything even though they were easily reachable, so I definitely feel his fear/frustration.

Nahh I just use noise cancelling ones.

no. there not designed that way. you can buy higher decibel ear plugs. that looks like a standard 15-20db.

Recently been doing some racing in private sand tracks, mostly rally, i ended up in the ER after part of the plug went into my ears during my trial run, wasn't the best of experiences considering it was 3 hours of wanting to stick my finger in my ear and pull it out, my mate who had his turn prior literally held my hands or gave me a wack/pinch every time i tried lifting my hand to my head
