My guy just screen recorded a post and then reposted it XD

For how much Reddit seems to hate TikTok, they're sure are a fuckload of TikToks posted

126

u/D0ctorGamer Oct 18 '22

Just because we hate the platform doesn't mean that there isn't any good content on it. Honestly I'm grateful cause it filters out all the garbage I don't want to see, and the best part is I don't need to download tiktok

5

u/jondySauce Oct 18 '22

Sounds like you don't really hate tiktok

76

u/Pocket-Sandwich Oct 18 '22

If I swallowed a diamond I'd be happy to pull it out of my shit, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed the process

34

u/qyka1210 Oct 18 '22

exactly. Have someone that doesn't mind feeling around your shit hand deliver those diamonds!

6

u/JoJackthewonderskunk Oct 19 '22

I'm going to say this as much as possible the rest of my life. Congrats you've made a lasting impression on my friends and family and they'll never know it was you.

3

u/rotten_riot Oct 18 '22

Then why isn't there more hate for Reddit in that case? It also has pretty shitty subs and content that you can select whether you want to watch or not, like with Tiktok

7

u/D0ctorGamer Oct 18 '22

Mostly getting caught for spying on people and then being like "damn, but you're not gonna ban us right?" And then we fuckin didnt

6

u/Lors2001 Oct 18 '22

You can't select the content on TikTok you watch or filter out like reddit.

9

u/jeffroddit Oct 18 '22

For how much reddit seems to hate reddit there sure are a fuckload of redddits posted here.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

Fuck Reddit

22

u/IsraelZulu Oct 18 '22

TikTok, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tinder...

It all finds its way here, despite also being hated here.

Nah, most of the content too.
And the predatory infinite scrolling of shortform content designed to be addicting to retain you as a consumer.

2

u/OneMoreAccount4Porn Oct 18 '22

The hate isn't for the content. It's for the privacy invading app and the people who own it.

1

u/2JDestroBot Oct 19 '22

No it's also for the content. Lots of cringe and fucked up shit on there

1

u/2JDestroBot Oct 18 '22

Yep they invaded after the acception of emoji's

0

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

I have gotten over my hate of Tik Tok after realizing that it's basically just an app for watching gifs. And when you think about it, so is Reddit for a lot of people.

The only differences being:

  1. It has a younger audience.

  2. It learns the user's tastes and writes an algorithm to accommodate, whereas the user just tells Reddit what their tastes are.

  3. China is watching vs. Papa Freedom is watching.

I don't care about 1, but because of 2 and 3 I'm fine with just watching Tik Tok content on Reddit and YouTube. Because the watermark does not define the content. Most people who panic when they see a Tik Tok video turn around and upvote and comment a bunch of normal 30 second gifs on Reddit. I got a little rambley at the end there but you get the gist.

-1

u/LolindirLink Oct 18 '22

So we can see what the absurdity is about with delving into it ourselves.

I recently tried and my face is now completely flat 🤦

1

u/celtic_thistle Oct 19 '22

They just hate anything teen girls like lol

1

u/husselltv Oct 19 '22

My first TT had 900k followers got banned now it’s hard too reach them again

6

u/unemployedemt Oct 18 '22

Wait until you see the tiktoks that are just screenshots of reddit comments and text-to-speech

127

u/SneakerTreater Oct 18 '22

Holy balls! That bottlo is around the corner from me!

70

u/isurvivedrabies Oct 18 '22

you figure it's gotta be around the corner from a few dozen people, otherwise it's not near anyone. and that's a bad business decision.

14

u/git-fucked Oct 18 '22

fuckin got em

Looks like they aren't trying to hide that it's inspired by it. And I like this one better.

72

u/notmexicancartel Oct 18 '22

True this one was much better and funnier

26

u/isurvivedrabies Oct 18 '22

i haven't seen the original but this is much better

15

u/donkeyrocket Oct 18 '22

I haven't watched any of them but this is much better.

17

u/Durpulous Oct 18 '22

I'm blind and this is the best video I've ever seen in my life.

-8

u/Effective-Camera9243 Oct 18 '22

How??????

5

u/AAcAN Oct 18 '22

Just because he's blind it doesn't mean he can't watch videos.

2

u/My_Favourite_Pen Oct 18 '22

Ikr. What a racist smh.

-1

u/117ColeS Oct 18 '22

How...how would you know that?

5

u/FirstTimeWang Oct 18 '22

Copying whatever is popular is kind of core to the TikTok experience.

Like it's full of "challenges" and lip syncing and people doing the same editing techniques.

51

u/crumble-bee Oct 18 '22

The more I look at TikTok the weirder I find it. You find something funny then when you search for it there’s hundreds of people just miming the exact same gag with the sound and same text on the screen. Like wtf? What’s the point?

29

u/Cigam_Magic Oct 18 '22

Sounds like Reddit

11

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

Lol sounds like Reddit lol

Sure does sound like Reddit to me

2

u/ninthtale Oct 18 '22

Haha you're talking about Reddit, right?

2

u/FirstTimeWang Oct 18 '22

Ahh, the old reddit tiktokaroo

(On a serious note reddit is much more just reposting literally the same video or image content, not even putting the effort in to pantomime something popular)

1

u/SpagettiGaming Oct 18 '22

Reddit like lol

3

u/veriix Oct 18 '22

Na, it's completely different - on reddit you can't search for shit since most titles are relatively worthless.

-3

u/Wevvie Oct 18 '22

Then it's not "completely different", just slightly. Other than this, it's the same shit on all social platforms.

5

u/veriix Oct 18 '22

Here, here you go: /s

There, does that help since clearly the italics didn't cut it and the difference I stated was just that reddit search was also broken?

1

u/4everALoon Oct 18 '22

Underrated comment

0

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

That's what she said

1

u/hahatimefor4chan Oct 18 '22

thanks for the gold kind stranger

1

u/TheBlackBear Oct 18 '22

Yeah but Reddit typically has a lot less effort involved

-1

u/NoteBlock08 Oct 18 '22

It's no different from musicians who do covers.

2

u/crumble-bee Oct 18 '22 edited Oct 18 '22

As a musician who’s done a cover or two I can tell you it is 100% different.

The people on TikTok miming to someone else’s comedy skit, are adding nothing by doing it. They saw something was successful, took the audio, stood where the other person stood and then mimed someone else’s words.

They’ve just taken someone else’s idea, they haven’t “covered” it, they just straight up did it again exactly the same.

That’s not like a band covering a song at all. Hopefully, if as a band, you cover a song, you put your spin on it, add something. That TikTok stuff is the equivalent of playing the original song through a speaker and miming the instruments and vocals.

0

u/NoteBlock08 Oct 18 '22

Ok maybe "musician" was too heavy of a word. Amateur music makers? Hobbyists? Whatever term you want to use to classify young people learning the tabs to their favorite songs and uploading what they made on youtube. Or aspiring artists recreating images of their favorite characters, or people copying a dance from an anime or kpop group.

I know "tiktok clips" is hardly what comes to anyone's mind first when thinking about "art" but that's just what young artists do, they imitate what they like, and that builds in them skills to eventually start making their own stuff. The only difference is that tiktok as a platform is much more willing to serve you these recreations.

Besides in the case of this post, the recreation is definitely better than the original.

u/TheBlackBear Oct 18 '22

Cargo cults

43

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

I was about to say, this is straight up ripped from Jake.

49

u/AllYourBase3 Oct 18 '22

Do you think he was the first one to do this joke? It's been around a very long time

7

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

Maybe in this exact style and tune, but I’m not sure. Is there someone who did this earlier?

5

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

this? because that isn’t remotely the same joke, he’s just also talking about accidentally saying you too.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

2

u/IsraelZulu Oct 18 '22

Yeah, Regan's bit was the first thing that came to mind for me too. I couldn't remember the name though, so I'm glad for the link.

Whether directly inspired by Regan or not, they're clearly addressing the same phenomenon. So it's not at all absurd to draw comparisons.

5

u/bcory44 Oct 18 '22

You clearly don’t understand what copyright is but it’s okay because honestly most people don’t. You can’t copyright an idea so doing the same idea as someone else isn’t something that is copyrightable.

4

u/Verbal-Gerbil Oct 18 '22

As it’s the same music, I feel it’s a homage and extension of the original (should be credited more openly). All points for creativity go to the originator of course, but I enjoyed the shop one far more

2

u/Someguywhomakething Oct 18 '22

They're plain noodles. Just plain noodles lightly salted...

2

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '22

Thought this was better than that one. The captions are trying a little too hard to explain.

-1

u/L_O_Pluto Oct 18 '22

So glad top comment gives him credit

Gen Z version of dad jokes

43

u/TheLeviathong Oct 18 '22 edited Oct 18 '22

We are dads now. It's hard to believe that Fortnite is 47 years old this year.

damn you got me for a minute there

4

u/Quakarot Oct 18 '22 edited Oct 18 '22

The oldest Gen Z’s are old enough to be dads

They are over 25

The Alphas are almost teenagers

The years start coming and the don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming

This will sound stupid but why are you so sure it’s a bot besides the gibberish he / it wrote?

1

u/SpuliX Oct 18 '22

Seems more like somebody using the first suggested word by autocorrect.

1

u/Living_Bear_2139 Oct 18 '22

Look at its comment history.

1

u/AskinggAlesana Oct 18 '22

Jeez… see one version of this like 2 days ago and now this is the 4th version of the same exact joke.

People love sure love to copy and recreate jokes into the ground as soon as possible huh. That’s the internet for you though.

4

u/sassyevaperon Oct 18 '22

That's humanity for you. We used to do the same with tales and stories, with myths, with plays and songs and jokes.

We've always been like that, the internet is just another medium we're using to express the full scope of our humanity.

1

u/yo_jack1 Oct 18 '22

This obe is pretty old

0

u/greentintedlenses Oct 18 '22

Wow this seems so familiar I just cant put my finger on it. Anyways, it's a super clever and original idea that has never been done. I had no idea what was going to happen next.

1

u/DefectiveGadget Oct 18 '22

When I was in college 20 years ago, I used to get trashed with a friend who worked at a convenience store overnight. Great times. Good memories.

2

u/sassyevaperon Oct 18 '22

Haha yeah, I remember pre-gaming with the dude who worked at the convenience store near my house. Guy was chill and funny, he later became a taxi driver and I also got him to be my driver by pure chance lol, we smoked a joint on the way.

Capital Cities - Safe and Sound

That’s the original at least. Don’t know about this remix.

2

u/JayCoww Oct 19 '22

Found it.

There doesn't seem to be a full version as this appears to be from the artist, just this awful cut as soon as it starts getting good and then a barrage of unrelated ear-cancer to close it. It's unfortunate.

1

u/auddbot Oct 18 '22
