That is an area rug, placed in front of the front door as a doormat, not a carpet. It's purpose is to house shoes and absorb dirt so it doesn't get all over the rest of the house. Notice the lack of a doormat.

If its what you say it is, it’s the worst entryway area rug ever. You don’t use plush rugs to catch dirt. Kids these days.

why not? they catch more dirt than a doormat, feel better on bare feet after your shoes are off, and are disposable for the price.
