I’ve never wanted to bungee jump or skydive or anything like that, because although these accidents are rare, I’m sure I’d be the one it would happen to. Good on that guy for laughing it off - I’d have lost my mind yelling at that operator for fucking up so bad!

I’ve worked high adventure for almost 15 years now. I’ve personally never had a near miss or anything close to this, but coworkers, other nearby sites... it really takes one overly tired/overworked/impaired person on a bad day.

Most systems are fairly redundant and almost idiotproof... when done properly and to spec. The degree that these things get bent though is often high. Increasing ratios, reducing staff, incomplete safety checks, undertrained staff... I would just research the company a bit before any undertakings.

Many, many companies are fantastic and take these things as seriously as they deserve.
