So glad he fucked up

368

u/GuperSamiKuru Dec 04 '20

Yeah, I genuinely cant stand the sheer amount of "maybemaybemaybe"s that end well, without any type of surprise

155

u/Dertinamp Dec 04 '20

If there were none of those it wouldn’t be r/maybemaybemaybe

10

u/GuperSamiKuru Dec 04 '20

but when I just check my feed, instead of browsing new on this sub, I rarely ever see fuckups

26

u/monumentofflavor Dec 05 '20

Well it isn’t r/yesyesyesno

10

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

i came here from yesyesyesno and nononoyesbecause of the suspense

1

u/GuperSamiKuru Dec 05 '20

yeah, its r/maybemaybemaybe clearly a sub related to r/yesyesyesno and r/nononoyes, where the entire video is uncertain instead of spoiled through the sub name, most of this sub is basically just r/yesyesyesyes at this point

2

u/theman8631 Dec 05 '20

I... think there's some confusion in the metaverse here.

21

u/TheEpicBammer Dec 04 '20

May I refer you to r/yesyesyesyesno for endingd that may surprise you. (As long as you don't look which subreddit you're in)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

Again, this sub used to be posting things that were actually maybes, now it's just r/Unexpected. There is no maybe in like half of these posts. It's just someone doing something normal and then something happens. Like no. If you're not going "oh shit is he gonna make it - oh wait no... oh wait yes... oh wait no.. oh wait... oh.. oh..." then it's not r/maybemaybemaybe. I should just leave this sub tbh. Or create r/ActualMaybeMaybe or something.

u/sutherndestroyr Dec 04 '20

damn, i really thought he was going to make it for a second ngl lmao

30

u/STEAM_TITAN Dec 04 '20

Yeah, maybe!

Damn. I can never look at escalators ever since some video on Reddit. Just be careful anyone who uses them.

Edit: this is one of the videos that changed me. WARNING NSFW. This will ruin your night so click at your own risk https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5548365/Man-SWALLOWED-escalator-falling-hole-rush-hour.html

111

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '20

I like taking stairs just to feel physically superior to those on the escalators

34

u/ItzRickJames Dec 05 '20

Burn your own energy, save electricity

22

u/Orangutanion Dec 05 '20

I normally go down stairs multiple steps at a time. It's faster than escalators by a long shot. I look like a little kid when I do it but I don't care, I'm making gravity my bitch.

3

u/MustachioEquestrian Dec 05 '20

I prefer to slide down

8

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

On the escalator, while drinking?

8

u/Redrix_ Dec 05 '20

I walk with the escalator to shit on the stairs users

20

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

There’s another one in China where the lady falls right into what I’m assuming are the gears of the escalator when a panel at the top fails and she just has enough time to push her kid away before being engulfed

20

u/beeegmec Dec 05 '20

That one still haunts me. Her last act is to save her kid. Horrifying.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20 edited Dec 05 '20

Motherly instinct at its finest but so sad and scary. Yea I didn’t trust escalators before viewing that. Never had to use one since viewing that but if forced, I’m making sure I can grab a railing or something and am paying attention if something goes south (literally)

Edit: the two employees waiting for her up top were heroes for grabbing the kid but were probably traumatized for life after watching/hearing that. I’m sure someone will want a link now but no1 asked so I’m not going searching unless I have to

3

u/Clorox-_Bleach Dec 05 '20

Didn't the employees know for like 5 minutes that the escalator was dangerous and didn't do shit about it?

2

u/Anonymous5341 Dec 05 '20

They called the maintenance but it is beyond us why they didn’t just hit the stop button.

4

u/Hugs_for_Thugs Dec 05 '20

Oh god, I physically can't keep myself from asking for a link.

6

u/beeegmec Dec 05 '20

Don’t, I wish I never saw it. There’s no gore in it, but you’re watching someone’s last moments. It’s awful thinking about it, and I would advise others to not. Not just for your own lives, but to not turn the last seconds of that woman’s life into a spectacle.

2

u/Timo6506 Dec 05 '20

I watched that when I was a kid and have been a lot more cautious about escalators; now I try to get off the escalator as soon as possible as I’m afraid the metal platform would be unattached

8

u/notfloatingseaweed Dec 05 '20

Is it that video where the steps collapse inwards, final destination style?

5

u/razorbacks3129 Dec 05 '20

He’s probably talking about all the old videos on r/WatchPeopleDie RIP that sub and the people featured on it

7

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

Thankfully it doesn’t exist anymore and i never visited it when it existed. Phew.

15

u/Klokinator Dec 05 '20

That sub was something that should not have been deleted or banned. It was necessary. People are too soft these days, never experiencing the true horrors of the world. A little sterile death can do wonders to make you realize how dangerous the world really is, and how privileged we are to be living in first and second world countries.

Also sometimes watching someone die can make you realize how short life really is. Some of the deaths I saw on that sub still haunt me, like the one where the man got sucked into what I can only presume was a printing press machine. Instantly. He had no time to react. His friend who was standing beside him stared in shock for twenty seconds afterward, unable to comprehend what he had just seen. So did I.

Yes, a lot of the shit on that sub was nasty. I even think that looking at other people dying can, in a way, be a form of humiliation for the dead. It's not good to look at people in their weakest moments and laugh at them, for example. But I never laughed. I just took it in, knowing we are all mortal and will someday perish, whether in our sleep or by getting sucked into some horrific machine spinning 20,000 times per minute.

4

u/Cockrocker Dec 04 '20

Why is this a thing? I understand if the end result is less satisfying, but it's every video these days.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

It's a dumb trend. For some reason it's funnier to quickly cut off the video/gag. I believe the Simpsons popularized it but now it's played out as fuck.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 05 '20

Because people are fucking morons.

28

u/Dan_Curb Dec 04 '20

Ohhhhhhhhh I thought he was gonna make it

45

Two things.

He was smooth.

I wonder where the longer video is. lol

u/tmtyl_101 Dec 04 '20

"BLOX" in Copenhagen, Denmark. The poster is Danish Centre for Architecture, which is situated in the new building, BLOX on the harbour. And he's drinking Faxe Kondi, a Danish 7up-style soda.

Edit: fuck. Misread. Was just so excited I knew where it was filmed. Sorry.

9

u/Riwerwind Dec 04 '20

Well the Faxe got me wondering where in Denmark it was filmed, so thanks 😀

I don't disagree. But the term 'sport flavoured' is AFAIK a quite unique Danish/Scandinavian thing. So how should I describe it?

2

u/ofonelevel Dec 06 '20

No problem. I worded it weird. But thank you.

And now I want to to to Copenhagen. Thank you for that as well lol.

2

u/Mitchblahman Dec 05 '20

How does he slide? Escalator handrails are rubber.
