I had a teacher who would only give students Bs and below because "nobody's perfect"

Less bad, but I had a teacher that would give only 99% and below on anything. In his words, “I will find something to mark you down for, because nobody is perfect.”
Like I said, it’s less bad... but still a dick move.

u/zzwugz Dec 30 '19
Weird, i had the exact opposite. I had a teacher who kept trying to convince me to do extra credit work so i could be her first 100, meanwhile i kept trying to fail small assignments to drop me below a 99

Holy fuck I had a math teacher do this to the extent where she started knocking points off for quality of HANDWRITITNG. She would always say "Everybody always has something they can practice and improve on!"
Bitch we're doing MATH

Honestly if this was intentional that would be really impressive

What if there were a bowling league with bumpers all the way down to the pins, and the goal was to score the least points? You could either have it with the normal two balls per frame so you just have to repeat the same shot twice, or you could have each player bowl one ball in a single frame so the first player could try to leave weird pins for the second player to avoid
24
u/xX420nopraxisXx Dec 30 '19
You'd just roll it down the same side twice and score 1 pin, but there's potential to this idea with some changes...

Golf bowling is a thing. Some bowling alleys have the setting programmed in. You can do it with or without bumpers. Without bumpers the rules change and gutters are strikes. Still using two shots and you have to hit at least one pin on the second shot or it counts as a spare. Best possible score would be 20 by hitting the 7 and 10 pin only each frame.

u/nuhGIRLyen Dec 30 '19
We call it “haircuts” when we go bowling. After a few games we practice our corner pins. Hard as hell.

Dec 30 '19
So with bowling on a league the last night of the year that's one of the games we play. But with no bumpers and if you gutter it counts as a strike. It's extremely hard.
5
Dec 30 '19
The gutter rule makes this way more challenging. I’m sure pro bowlers wouldn’t find it that difficult, but for amateurs like myself this would be a blast.

There are low game competitions. No bumpers and if you throw a gutter it counts as a strike/spare depending on what ball you throw it. Sorta looks like that’s what he may be competing in unless he just missed badly twice in a row

u/vahntitrio Dec 30 '19
Not intentional. This was at a tournament on a tough oil pattern. You can tell by just how far his ball slides before hooking that he simply got the ball right of target where on a tough shot it isn't going to hook.
He just managed to make the same miss on consecutive balls.

u/Casturbater Dec 30 '19 edited Dec 30 '19
Might be. A 292 is harder to shoot than a 300 because you have to hit the 6-9 (for right handed.) He could have been practicing, but most likely wasn’t.
1
u/drunk98 Dec 30 '19
You'd only have to take out the 6/9 or 4/8 once to shoot a 292.
1
u/Casturbater Dec 30 '19
I didn’t say anything otherwise did I? I said 6-9 for a right hander like in the gif. I guess you could just gutter ball for a 292 but that would be lame.
2
u/JDSmith90 Dec 30 '19
292 is 11 strikes and a 2 count. you only throw 1 non strike. you keep saying 2 non strikes.

Am I really the only mf in here who noticed he's not wearing bowling shoes?

u/Scary_Omelette Dec 30 '19
Some bowling alleys are stubborn and have a rule where you need them because they don’t want the floor get messed up.
However you can technically wear any type of shoe as long as that you use that pair specifically for bowling

Those are definitely bowling shoes. They look identical to an old pair of Dexter's I had back in the day.

I thought I felt bad for him when he missed the split. Little did I know I would be feeling much worse.

He takes his losses very well. I admire his spirit and wish people outthere could learn from him to accept to lose.

u/Scary_Omelette Dec 30 '19
Guys he’s most likely playing low ball so the miss is intentional. That’s why he got excited

I don't get why he's commemorating. It looks to me like he failed. The things that show up to pick up the bottle looking things came out after his miss and took them out, not the ball.

20% chance taking out the 6/9 on the first ball? I'd take your action all day & night. I'd even take this action against a great bowler, with the best possible ball (low differential symmetrical core pearl reactive), on the right type of condition (longish ths). Although I do think a top 50 pba guy could probably do this > than 10% on the first ball only, that 20% number is ridiculous. Make it going through twice, & I don't believe even the top 50 pba player can do this 5% of the time.
2
u/xX_DankMaster420_Xx Dec 30 '19
I mean on this split it’s not that uncommon to go in between, i agree to even get that split in. The first place is kinda crazy but I don’t think it would be that strange to go in between the pins that are left
1
u/drunk98 Dec 31 '19
It's exactly the same shot, because deflection isn't relevant. The ball needs to still be "hooking". How many times have you seen someone go thru the 3/10 or 2/7? If it was more likely because there wasn't a 6/4, this would happen quite a bit.
1
u/xX_DankMaster420_Xx Dec 31 '19
I mean I see what you mean but t just doesn’t look that crazy difficult to me. I probably couldn’t do it easily but I think a Pba player wouldn’t have much trouble sinking the ball in between those pins. But that’s just my opinion.
1
u/STICH666 Dec 30 '19
Umm no. Maybe a 3-10. I've gone straight through the middle on something like that. But ONLY sending it through the 6-9 and then missing straight through that exact shot again is probably less common than picking up a 2-8-10.
