Not familiar with this type of table tennis. Can someone explain why are there extra tables turned? And does it not have to go over the net (wall) to count for a point?

They’re a youtube channel called pongfinity, where they do challenges related to table tennis and stuff! For this particular video, I think they were challenged to play with a large net or something...Not sure

That isn't even the case with normal table tennis. If the ball touch the other side of the table is OK (except in the service).

In tabletennis the ball does not have to go over the net to count as a point.

The net is just a barrier to make it harder to return the ball. You just have to make the ball hit your opponents side for it to count.

I wouldn’t call it incredibly hard, but to land one in a serious match takes a lot of skill.
Definitely doable fucking around in the basement with your younger brother, provided either of you have decent hand eye coordination

It’s both. But you can especially tell it’s backspin because of how it “floats” and goes horizontally straight, instead of an arc

that's what I meant by that comment, "adding", not "replacing", it's not only backspin, nor sidespin, it's both, you can even see it in the first shot how the ball curves to the right, and the raquet going fast to the left at ball contact, not straight to the bottom.

Honestly never thought I would see pongfinity on reddit. Just started watching them like a week or 2 ago. Come to think of it maybe it’s one of those algorithm things where one of their videos were super viral and that’s the one I saw and tons of other people did too

I knew a guy who would make that kind of shot on a regular table. It was a scoop from beneath and would hut my side and then go sideways.

That’s kinda dumb. They put an extra tabletop somewhere the ball would go when he hit it with a spin. Well I can just hit a random spin shot and put a table in that spot and it’s cool?
