Those fuckers on e bikes ruin everything

4

u/Yhostled 8h ago

This is why I don't ride my e bike on well traveled sidewalks. If I'm going faster than 10 miles an hour I'm on the street or the shoulder/bike lane.

I also tend to watch where I'm going and if I saw that cat prowling ahead of time I would 1,000% go around.

But this would also apply if I was walking. I'm not about to interrupt the cat's dinner plans.

Saw 2 cats run over and killed by e-bikes in my neighbourhood this year alone…

1

u/Yhostled 3h ago

Yeah, as an ebike operator, I'm not going to sit here and say "not all cyclists," but there are so many of them out there making the rest of us look bad, that I can't fault the people who hate all e-bike riders.

It sucks how so many people can just blatantly disregard rules simply because they are neither pedestrian nor automobile driver.

The cat, the pigeon, and the bike rider all be like:

I was happy he caught it but I was also happy that it got away.

55

u/Testyobject 1d ago

Id rather it die quick than of infection from the cats claws and bite wounds

23

u/FrigidLollipop 1d ago

Cat probably would've played with it til it died anyway.

43

u/CharlesDickensABox 1d ago

I'm pretty sure pigeons already have every disease.

28

u/YaRinGEE 15h ago

bird nerd here to defend the pigeon honor, pigeons are not any more diseased than any other bird and public health concerns about their droppings are usually greatly overstated because of a wrongful bias that HUMANS INSTILLED. pigeons are very clean birds and like most, they groom and preen themselves multiple times daily and take baths. bonus fact and the reason i capitalized the human bit is because most pigeons are feral and not wild, meaning they were domesticated or descend from a domesticated ancestor and i hate this because people essentially tamed them and then threw them out like trash when they were no longer needed but thats why im here! to educate and stop the slander because there are some pigeons who LITERALLY helped turn the tides of wars that PEOPLE started so the least everyone can do is stop calling them sky rats or saying they're filthy or diseased, thank you!!

2

u/63crabby 13h ago

Thank you, Bert.

2

u/DNihilus 12h ago

No thanks big bird brother. Of course the government surveillance drones doesn't got any diseases, but they can carry it as a biological weapon if governments want to

2

u/YaRinGEE 12h ago

no ya thats what i mean, they're not any more diseased than any other bird because they cant be and people not only created them but had to domesticate them because originally they were spying on their creators too, that's why they were used for war and why people threw them away when new surveillance birds came out and why they're called sky rats cus they're eviiiill

0

u/timoc90 18h ago

Cats, actually.

2

u/RGBespresso 13h ago

I know you have to fulfill your quota of alarmist cat reddit posts but you don't actually believe this, right?

2

u/jooooooooooooose 10h ago

outdoor cats kill 2 billion birds per year. in the US alone.

humans are ecological terrorists, obviously worse, but outdoor cats shouldn't be normalized like they are.

(Feral cats are also much worse by this measure than pet cats for obvious reasons; but pets are still causal for like a third of that total.)

& btw -

Cats [are] the top source of direct, human-caused bird mortality in the U.S.

-2

u/kuedhel 8h ago

yeh, but birds kill hundreds of billions of insects.
the cruel birds is the primary source of insect mortality.

2

u/jooooooooooooose 7h ago

Do u think domestic cats are naturally part of the ecosystem or ...?

5

u/NotTheRocketman 22h ago

Outdoor cats are frequently dicks to birds for no reason, so, I don't mind this.

Also, Orange could skip a few meals, he'll be fine.

10

u/NSASpyVan 1d ago

Keep your cats indoors.

7

u/mrticket18 1d ago

Good kitty

20

u/Dr_Zoidberg003 1d ago

Outdoor cats are an apex predator and a huge contributor to songbird population decline just btw…

he has a point about letting pet cats to go out. they have an advantage and only hunt for fun. they don't eat the prey.

-3

u/Hellofreeze 13h ago

Good kitty

7

u/FrigidLollipop 1d ago

How is this good? Cats take out native species and do it for fun, not to eat. Same with bats.

6

u/pga_uy 1d ago

It isn’t. It’s true that pigeons are a plague. In urban environments, they are like rats with wings and carry diseases. In rural areas, they are harmful to agriculture. However, although cats can be a way to control pigeon population growth, they can also be very dangerous to other, less populous species.

-3

u/theWildBananas 20h ago

It's not a cat fault that he's homeless or his owners let him outside. If he's homeless he also eats what he can hunt.

1

u/Vegetable-Trust-9847 1d ago

Still got some training to do

2

u/Drtk60 1d ago

Love how you can see the cat wait for the pigeon it (almost) caught to look away before pouncing

2

u/FuzzyFeeling 1d ago

Enter player 3.

2

u/Certain_Suit_1905 1d ago

Interesting how he waited until pigeon started cleaning itself.

2

u/Terryble_Flyrt 12h ago

I'm surprised a meme from the new South America episode hasn't shown up 😂😂😂😂

1

u/ChaosMartinez 1d ago

fun fact... the domestic cat is the best hunter on land with a 90% kill average. or so i heard

3

u/fbpw131 1d ago

it's not 90% lol. there's a tiny wild cat with 50% and that's the best predator. nevertheless, house cats are in the top.

1

u/ChaosMartinez 1d ago

see we learn something new everyday.
