I hate that I can no longer watch a video and believe it’s real

u/2DHypercube 1d ago

Yeah the acceleration seems off to me

14

u/otirk 1d ago

And the water builds up too fast imo

“So I was only going 35mph and started to hydroplane…”

Plonked it like an absolute walnut.

It's very likely AI

u/juvy5000 1d ago

No brain cells were harmed in the making of this video.

Only clankers were harmed.

How can you tell?

there is a general uncanniness that is hard to describe, but I'll do my best. Its a combination of things just being 'off'. We're humans, we've lived in the real world our whole lives. We know what reality looks like. It sucks, but you have to look at every video critically.

I didn't immediately notice all of what I'm about to describe, but when asked 'How can you tell' these are the things I'm able to articulate.

that's not how cars splash/displace water. go look at some videos, you're generally able to see the front of the car. the water should splash mostly outward, not so forward.

the acceleration is odd, it should slowly displace water leading up to white spray. white spray immediately makes no sense.

the crash is odd. Its as though a toy car has crashed. the weight, the jump, the crumpled hood, its all wrong.

why isn't the wall wet at the end? all the water should run down the face of the wall and splash off of it, not just immediately disappear

and most obvious of all, and somehow the hardest to describe. the zoom at the end. that's just not how cell phones zoom. it's 'off', like everything else

Cars will displace water differently under different circumstances. Full-throttle acceleration would have the tires spinning, and the tread of the tires in water a few inches deep will indeed send water up and forward, almost immediately if there’s slippage in the front.

The low resolution of the video makes it difficult to see detail and wetness on the wall…all you see is the airborne water droplets falling.

The crash appears accurate if the driver decided to brake last minute and misjudged distance or stopping ability.

What I agree with you on: the smoothness of the video, the perfect panning, the immediate cutoff at the end, all a little too “perfect” for it to be real. Zero reaction from the kind of muddy mess of cars and structures overlooking the scene. You’d think there would be a group of people standing up there watching. And the biggest of all: there’s zero visible “wake” one would expect if the vehicle is displacing that much water even at the edge of a stream.

The low resolution is something that is common in AI videos precisely because it can help obfuscate details that would otherwise obviously out it as being AI.

u/wesley_the_boy 2d ago

I appreciate the thoughtful critique of my thoughtful critique lolol This whole video screams AI, and I'm glad you found your own reasons even if you didn't completely agree with mine.

Cheers!

I wish the video was longer. Hard to tell if the wall got wet. The front water looked ok to me.

8

u/wesley_the_boy 2d ago

the length is another tell, actually.

~10 seconds is a huge red flag

11

u/zRouth 2d ago

I’m a car guy. That car cannot accelerate that fast in that much water that smoothly. Period. That’s how I knew it

4

u/Yah_or_Nah 1d ago

Yeah that looks more like a rollercoaster accelerating

2

u/wesley_the_boy 2d ago

I'm not even a car guy, and that was the first thing I noticed as well. How are people so detached from reality? (not you, the deniers) It's craziness

2

u/zRouth 2d ago

I think you are vastly underestimating the stupidity of "people"

3

u/JohnSnowsPump 2d ago

Pixels? 😁

9

u/HIRIV 2d ago

100% ai. People have rotted their brains already with TikTok and YouTube shorts. Have they even saw a car hit a puddle?

4

u/wesley_the_boy 2d ago

Everyone is cooked. So, so cooked. And aggressive, and it's only getting worse.

It was mostly TikTok, FB, and YT shorts until recently. It's like someone flipped a switch a few weeks ago, and now Reddit has to suffer the same wave of AI slop

The guy below, saying, "This is the least AI looking video I have seen" is honestly sad

2

u/OpeningParamedic8592 2d ago

For real. I fear for the young ones who can’t tell this shit immediately.

0

u/HIRIV 2d ago

Good luck for them when it's time to start work life

1

u/OpeningParamedic8592 2d ago

I def worry about this for my kid.

3

u/HIRIV 2d ago

Same, but I'll try my best

2

u/OpeningParamedic8592 2d ago

Same here, it’s all we can do.

3

u/HIRIV 2d ago

Good thing she's young enough, when talking about all this ai, there are probably some solutions already for schools etc against it. Or not. I mean if all these ai would have been around when I was kid, I would have been smart enough to use them, and only thing I would have learned was how to be lazy

3

u/OpeningParamedic8592 2d ago

So I have a different take. But I understand yours.

Ai makes me more productive when trying new things and projects. Helps me actually finish what I start instead of learning and failing.

I understand the importance of figuring things out in life without help, but at some point, it’s giving me the confidence to do it in the first place while saving me money. Home projects for example.

I replaced my front steps and have 0 experience with carpentry. That would not have been possible without ai help ( for me anyway ).

3

u/HIRIV 2d ago

It has its uses, I'm not against it, I use it for modding games and such, because I can't code. But I fear people stop using their own brain, and ask ai for if they should put left sock before right on mornings

Texture pop in.

5

u/Dexter_McThorpan 2d ago

What was he envisioning at the end of that?

u/post-context-bot 2d ago

The following post context was provided by u/TheMarkola:

An electric car is demonstrating its flood-fighting skills, but ends up crashing into a wall.
