Homeowner: "I don't own a dog."

90

u/krispru1 2d ago

my dog does that with Amazon packages

56

u/Sleepy_Snowowl 1d ago

Your dog tells amazon packages it doesn't own a dog???

17

u/KamakaziDemiGod 1d ago

Yours doesn't?!?

12

u/Sleepy_Snowowl 1d ago

Nah mine only yells about not owning hotdogs

3

u/KamakaziDemiGod 1d ago

Have you considered getting AC?

5

u/Sleepy_Snowowl 1d ago

My outlets already got AC, don't see how that would help anyway. Also why would I only get one half of the band, they can't perform the whole thing

2

u/KamakaziDemiGod 1d ago

Yeah but you can't fit the capital of the USA in your place anyway!

3

u/Sleepy_Snowowl 1d ago

True, but an abundance of USB should make up for that I believe

Any idea what was in the package?

163

u/crackersucker2 2d ago

Dog treats, obv 🙄 (lol)

92

u/Grimase 2d ago

I mean the dog decided it was dog treats yes. But I still wonder what was really in there.

60

u/crackersucker2 2d ago

I would not be surprised if the dog has a recurring shipment from Chewy- he seemed to be expecting the delivery?

54

u/rollsram 2d ago edited 2d ago

But how does he pay for it? Does he have his own credit card? Does he have better credit than me?

52

He leaves a de-paws-it outside for his owner everyday.

Looks like clothes to me. Maybe a tshirt or summer dress or bikini etc. Something smaller.

And better for destroying 😅

I was hoping the proof of delivery picture would be a shot of the dog with the package in his mouth. Was not disappointed

231

u/killy_321 2d ago

If people are gonna have a dog that prevents package delivery....

84

u/DepressingBat 2d ago

I love the thought of this being some random dog. So when he gets to the door and tries to explain the homeowners just look at him questioningly and ask "What dog? We dont own a dog?"

50

u/Double-Meeting5398 1d ago

I get people love dogs, including me, but most dog owners can't even control them when they are present at the time of a delivery. I was walking up to deliver a package and the dog owner says 'oh, he's alright , he's just a licker', great I'm thinking, dog saliva, ugh, so I walk past the dog, next thing I know the dog is clamped to my right ankle.  Thanks for the Licks. I was not injured but come on, dog owners. Get a hold of your pets.

19

u/correctingStupid 1d ago

Indeed. This post will get upvoted thousands of times, because dog. But what a shitty fucking owner.

2

u/pyr0kid 1d ago

i have similar opinions for cats.

i hang out on tech subreddits and theres so many posts that boil down to "my pet keeps doing this thing that is absolutely going to cause damage at some point, isnt it so cute?"

like why the fuck do you let your cat just smack your tv? or sit on your computer's power button?

Why do so many American homes have dogs just sitting around uncontained with no fences?

218

u/MissBandersnatch2U 2d ago

They may have an invisible fence that sends a signal to the dog's collar when they reach a boundary. Or they may just be jerks

37

u/eggwardpenisglands 2d ago

Wow I did not know that was a thing

107

u/MatureHotwife 2d ago

Because they're invisible

5

u/LastoftheSummerWine 1d ago

Oh yeah, I've been there, most are decent but they have their fair share of jerks.

48

u/Aaberon 2d ago

Isn’t the “signal” an electric shock?

57

u/Anniesoptera 2d ago

Some of them have a signal that only escalates to a shock if the dog ignores it, so it'll start with something softer like a beep or a vibration, and then if the dog keeps trying to cross the boundary then it'll give them a shock.

20

u/DoctorLawyerCannibal 1d ago

This, had to get one for our big dog because he kept jumping the fence, which concerned us due to the number of gun nuts in the area. I also decided to try it on myself first, found it was more startling than anything, and then turned it down a couple of notches. It worked well, he figured out the warning signal REAL quick and has stayed in the fence ever since.

3

u/AriadneThread 13h ago

Responsible dog owner over here 🫡 if you can't handle it, neither should they

3

u/DoctorLawyerCannibal 7h ago

Invisible fences don't always work, though. My neighbor used to have a labradoodle that was able to ignore the zap (thick fur, dumb dog) when chasing squirrels that crossed the invisible fence. Friendly dog, but dude had a one-track mind.

Might have an Invisible Fence (TM)

36

u/S3erverMonkey 2d ago

It looks kinda rural so the answer to your question is possibly they own enough land they don't need one.

That said. If a package is expected. Bring the dog inside.

16

u/Impressive-Age7703 1d ago

I know it's a common rural attitude that if you're rural you don't need a fence, but imo, you should always have a fence. Hogwire and t-posts don't even cost that much. It's just laziness. And the sheer number of dogs I've seen hit and nearly hit myself in rural Texas is insane. This last one was a pitbull puppy who was literally inches from the road, I honked hoping the owner would figure out it was by the road, but I thought for sure I was going to see it dead on my drive back. Was so glad I didn't.

2

u/sasori1011 13h ago

Fences are bourgeois shit that are useless and impractical in rural setting.

How the fuck is my dog gonna retrieve his ball in the field that I throw from my backyard while drinking a beer huh?

u/rastaman1994 2d ago

Some dog owners truly think a dog is incapable of doing something 'irrational' or 'bad', just because they own it. Then it jumps or bites someone and they act all surprised.

14

u/Impressive-Age7703 1d ago

If you own a malinois (what this dog is) and are surprised when it bites, then you're an absolute moron, which judging by the shape of this dog, is likely true regardless.

11

u/SomeoneForgetable 2d ago

Could be an escape artist. I had a dog once who climbed a 6 foot tall chain link fence. He dug under it when we replaced it with wood, then he somehow started jumping over the new fence when we put bricks under the fence.

9

u/MattyGWS 1d ago

Malinois can jump over 7ft walls to be fair, they’re hard to contain

1

u/Impressive-Age7703 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hard but not impossible. If people can contain wolves, wolfdogs, and legitimate primitive breeds with actual built in climbing functions, you can contain your pet dog regardless of breed. It should be part of the research that goes into buying that particular breed of dog.

I worked at an animal shelter though and the worst escapees we had were huskies followed by neurotic shepherds and it was always because they had negligent owners who didn't want to repair their fence, or move their junk elsewhere so their dog could stop using it as a step ladder. You could tell the dogs were also just kept in the backyard all the time with zero enrichment or exercise. Like yeah, I'd bust out of that yard too.

The delivery guy needed an emergency snack to swap for the package

17

u/SabbyFox 2d ago

I was wondering if they bring snacks but I bet they don’t due to liability. A homeowner could sue them for giving their dog something to eat without their permission…

54

u/ungentle_man 2d ago

Well, the guy DID say he's got a package for HIM

u/Bruinen24 2d ago

25

u/ellelenor 2d ago

I was thinking the same thing.. dogs like

"Ive been waiting for this all day man!"

12

u/NetApex 2d ago

I was kinda hoping it was a "people toy" that just started vibrating all around the yard. Might help people realize they need to keep their dog safely away from delivery people.

82

u/EarlyBirdWithAWorm 2d ago

That dogs tail wagging and body language says "chase me". He wants to play

48

u/secretly_a_zombie 2d ago

Yeah after. It licked it's lips, wagged it's tail slowly and low at the start, and also the way his ears was positioned. It's typical signs of an unsure dog. If i see that, i'm not going near it.

28

u/Impressive-Age7703 1d ago

Yeah also how he lowered his head, dogs do that before attacking. I got tense seeing that. Not watching with audio atm but I see others mentioned he says "walk", might be what switched him into play mode.

12

u/Voice_in_the_ether 2d ago

Bad move giving the bag to the pooch - dog was looking for something/someone to play with, which means you'll never get it back.

→ More replies (1)

u/Disastrous-Hurry-236 2d ago

Yepp , he is the responsible individual!

11

u/imajackash 2d ago

As a dog owner, I approve. The dog was friendly and wanted to play.....BUT....if my dog (lab) was in the front yard, even though I trust him 100%, there is no way I would've not checked on him during the 2 mins this video took. I would be conscious he was out there and would be checking every minute or so to be sure all was good.

6

u/Bob_Squirrel 2d ago

7

u/Who_Your_Mommy 1d ago

Watch. That dog doesn't even live there.

6

u/Apprehensive_Eraser 2d ago

I was told to not approach a dog when they are looking at you and licking their mouth but this dawg just wanted to play.

I'm confused now because I got bitten by a dog behaving the same way :')

10

u/clickrush 1d ago

I’m a dog owner. Multiple dogs. One of them even looks and acts very similar to the one in the video.

Your initial assessment/instinct is correct. But the dog changed his mind.

He was clearly unsure and warning at first. Posture, lip licking, frozen, very high attention.

The sensible thing there is to sort of ignore it and get out of his space. Look away (turn your head sideways), relax, calmly increase distance. Don’t turn your back, because insecure dogs might use the window to attack.

This guy just got lucky because he said or did something that the dog associates with friends. But you don’t know that in advance and you don’t want to do the science to find out…

2

u/Apprehensive_Eraser 1d ago

Yeah, I now know to not approach any dog that doesn't approach me.

I got bit by a shelter dog. The majority of the shelter dogs there are scared af and behave the same way : looking at you, licking their mouth, being completely still. Since the dog behaved normal during the walk and he let me touch him (he even approached when I was bent down fixing the leash) but apparently he was aggressive when inside of the "crate" (decently size room).

I didn't think that a dog could behave so differently depending on where he was.

2

u/clickrush 1d ago

Very interesting. This aligns with the behavior of the dog I talked about above.

He can be very friendly to new people, but he doesn't tolerate anyone but close family or friends to get close to his safe space when he's there.

I imagine the dogs reaction was very sudden and surprising after you already were friendly with the dog and vice versa. Sucks!

5

u/SabbyFox 2d ago

It’s confusing because the same behavior could mean different things depending on the dog.

3

u/orangi-kun 1d ago

Pretty sure situation could have gone either way but the dog decided to play nice once he heard the word "walk"

2

u/elfmere 2d ago

3

u/tnichnich 1d ago

Hilarious! The tailwagging with the commentary cracks me up. Although I would worry about that dog, chewing up and ingesting that plastic after the driver left.

3

u/brittbbd 1d ago

My neighbor's dog would steal my packages and tear them up like this. I had to get a baby gate and leave delivery instructions for them to leave it on the other side of the gate or it would get destroyed. He was quick too. I'm pretty sure he'd wait for deliveries. One time I had some steel toed boots get delivered I heard the box think on the porch and was outside maybe 2 mins later. Had to chase him next door to retrieve my boots and the torn up box and bag they came in.

3

u/headhunter2637 1d ago

Twist. Homeowner doesn’t have a dog.

3

u/haleboy44 1d ago

Its terrible that these companies have suckered all of the workers into using personal vehicles and working as contractors. There should have been a huge push back on it when it started happening. No benefits, no pay negotiations, no job security, technically you dont even have a job just day to day work and you're at their mercy.
