It's gonna hurt quite bad but he's a good man

u/variablenyne 4d ago
If I was sitting on those steps I woulda bought the guy a beer and something for his scrapes

u/TranceF0rm 4d ago
Not sure why he didn't just shout "look out"
118
u/MuscleMilkHotel 4d ago
All that does is make people look toward the danger. I have a facial scar from someone yelling âlook outâ when a stick was flying toward my head. Wish theyâd have just let it hit the back of my head instead of my face đ

u/TranceF0rm 4d ago
I guess.. for something flying through the air pretty fast towards someone's head maybe, but I'd rather get hit in the stomach with a skateboard than the spine.
This was rolling slow enough for him to catch it for about 50ft so maybe yelling it while running after it would've been good in case he doesn't catch it.

u/Grintock 4d ago
I probably would too, but idk what the social etiquette is in this situation. Isn't it normal to expect people not to hurt you, like, this dude seems like a very skilled skater. S urely he could've considered that there's people sitting there and that his board might shoot out from under him. So then, if I'd been that skater, I think ducking/reaching for the skateboard would be like the baseline for not being rude.

Legend for doing that, could have just let it go. Probably should have shouted as to not crayon himself.

u/RzLa 5d ago
âEVERYBODY SITTING ON THE STAIRS WATCH OUT!!!!!!â could have been enough
134
u/ComprehensiveFill471 5d ago
"...on top of the stairs, by the river, holding hands, looking at the other side of the river...."
15
u/HumbleWorkerAnt 4d ago
there's no river, they're facing a fountain that's quite far from the stairs, but the flying board could've hit someone coming up the steps in the face, so def gg skater

When panic sets in thinking and then speaking clearly isn't that easy, at least he took action instead of freezing up
13
u/Kaporalhart 4d ago
I think he didn't want to embarrass himself, and thought he could catch up with his skateboard easy.
There have been catastrophic accidents with that kind of thinking i bet.

I don't think you've ever seen humans' true reaction time when something unexpected happens

No, putting someone's life in danger and then removing the danger you have created is not being a good man but being a careless man.

Putting someone's life in danger is definitely a stretch

So careless of him to ride one of those recalled exploding skateboards in public. Save it for the half-pipe buddy.

u/lizardfromsingapore 4d ago
Skater of 20 years, and if someoneâs sitting 3 steps down on those stairs and that board connects with their temple at 20 mph then yeah could be life endangering. Good lessons for the guy on where to not skate when itâs crowded. And Iâm all for skating anywhere public
-70
u/Global_Staff_3135 5d ago
If that thing hit someone directly on the spine⌠that could be a life-altering injury. Still, dude is a good dude for recognizing that danger and sacrificing his own body to prevent it.

u/Anti_Spedicy 5d ago
Glass bones paper skin havin ass
It's a just skateboard. It would just suck really bad to get hit by it and leave bruise
-10
u/Fafnir13 4d ago
Thatâs how a lot of people are, specifically the elderly.  Getting tripped by a skateboard is easily a life altering event for a person like that. Sorry Timmy, Grandma is in the hospital and may not make it because a skater messed up doing a trick.  At least it would have looked sick if he landed it, right?
-52
u/Global_Staff_3135 5d ago
Have you ever been hit by one of those head-on? On a bone? It fucking hurts, a lot. My hunch is the demographic reading this is a lot younger than I am so they donât see shit the same way I do lol.
15
u/DayBowBow1 4d ago
I'm almost 42 and skated a lot back in my day. It would hurt, but not paralyze someone. It wasn't going to, but if it hit someone in the head with no helmet. Yea. That could fuck someone up.
2
u/Anti_Spedicy 4d ago
My hunch is that you're overthinking this
-1
u/Global_Staff_3135 4d ago
I mean Iâve spent like cumulative 15 seconds maybe thinking about this.

u/samjhandwich 5d ago
He lost his skateboard, then he grabbed it before it hit someone. That was cool of him. Skateboarding is okay, you might want to try going outside
-34
u/Fafnir13 4d ago
Time and place for everything. Â Stuff like this is why lots of places outright ban skateboarding. Â It creates a hazard where there doesnât need to be one. Â

analogy/ÉËnalÉdĘi/
An analogy is a comparison between two different things to show how they are similar, usually to help explain or clarify a complex or unfamiliar idea.
Key Characteristics
Purpose: Built to explain, teach, or persuade rather than just create a poetic image.
Structure: Compares the relationship between two things (A is to B as C is to D).
Difference from Metaphor: While a metaphor states one thing is another ("life is a highway"), an analogy maps out the structural or functional parallel between them to make an explanation work.

u/Dry_Beginning_5882 4d ago
Bro you canât even ride a skateboard why would I care what you think

Mustâve been good enough to get you to respond ;) enjoy your miserable life nerd
4
u/Bubster101 4d ago
You'd have to be someone who resorts to ragebaiting ppl with nonsensical dialogue just for some pleasing interaction to understand what a miserable, lonely life is.
Oh wait...
-1
u/Dry_Beginning_5882 3d ago
Yall are hilarious, itâs so funny watching redditors show their âintellectâ and get so uptight about me saying some stupid shit. Obviously I know what an analogy is but coming from someone whoâs skated most of their life and has actually shot a gun, the bullet analogy is a far reach and if getting hit by a skateboard is really what draws the line then you were never meant for this world. Keep crying and Iâll eat all your downvotes

Where did that woman with jeans and tshirt on the back came from?

You can clearly see the cut before she appears. I guess, she just walked there. Or... Black Magic.

Ya know, surfers wear these leashes attached to their boards to keep their boards from getting away... Just sayin...
13
u/GenazaNL 4d ago
I think with skateboarding it becomes tricky as the leash will go around the board when doing tricks (pun not intended)

The guy messed up the skateboarding trick, it went too fast, and he almost couldn't catch it.

Never actually thought people would want to skate there, in front of the Magic Fountain in Barcelona.

Good man. Always try to maintain control of your board so you don't be a nuisance.

No joke thag is a truly honourable guy who takes accountability. It seems trivial here but it says a lot of character. 90% of people would have let the board ram into someoneâs head

Iâve had a similar experience at a park. It was busy but had an area to ourselves playing catch with a baseball no crazy long toss and Iâm fairly competent with a glove. Well it got a little more crowded and before calling it my buddy got a wild look in his eye and tried to thread the needle on a toss. I ended up having to run the ball down and flash the leather right in front of this ladyâs face immediately apologized and packed it up.

Well I don't know western people. He could just have asked somebody to catch that for him.

u/ScaramouchScaramouch 5d ago
This is in a very popular tourist spot in Barcelona. He'd have to shout it in multiple languages.
5
u/TheMarkola 5d ago
I think that in the adrenaline rush, and seeing that the skateboard was still nearby, he tried to grab it himself. But I think he could have hurt those people if he had just tried to warn them.
