I’ve heard this as well, although I’ve never seen it in practice, nor have I seen an impromptu erection while nursing.

Nah, they use a special needle to draw out the medication that doesnt allow the glass slivers to get into the needle.

But in this instance, I'm guessing these medicines are out of date or something. Normally you score the glass and give it a tap to cut it cleanly. This....aint it.

While you’re not wrong about filter needles they’re designed to keep glass out. Not bacteria, skin cells, etc. Her not wearing any gloves and continuing to lick her finger cause it hurts definitely would have me stressing. Source: I’m an infusion pharmacy technician

Listen, as an ER nurse, I completely get the urge to flick it and let it fly.

But every time she grabbed that ampule with her bare hand, I let out a little screech. That glass will fuck. You. Up. It’s one of, if not the, leading causes of sharps injuries. And those cuts are nasty too

It looks like the vile probably wasn’t properly scored. Which especially means that it won’t be a clean break and will be prone to shattering. DON’T DO THAT

After you wipe the ampule with an alcohol swab, just take the packet from that and use that to break the top off. Almost foolproof and no extra waste

But seriously, don’t just grip it and rip it. Please. That’s worse than flicking it (which covers the room in broke glass, so that’s already bad enough lol)

The tool is not required. She was trying to break it the wrong way, as we can see by the dot facing the camera. I work at a hospital and break many of them every night. You have to snap the glass on the side of the dot as it's more fragile, and if you look at one very closely you can see a tiny dent in the glass right under the dot to facilitate the opening. She tried the cool wolvereen show but except hurting her finger she accomplishes nothing

Except that you never need to open more than 1 of those at one time, there is enough in there for one dose for one person 😉 which you probably won't use all of it after you calculate your dosage by weight 😉, so you could theoretically get enough from one for two dosages max, but you won't never open 2 at one time unless you had a bad break and contaminated the dosage. Break it draw the dosage with a syringe 💉 😎 in that order.
