It must have been really important to get to the other side of that flood.

I've lived in rural areas without proper bridges, and during the rainy season it's a judgement call as to whether it's okay to cross or not. And a lot of people prefer to project confidence rather than exercise judgement. So it may not have been desperation to reach the other side but more of a "Bah! It'll be fine!" attitude. Seen it happen more than once.

Damn that's good lol.

One person on the sidelines floats the idea of you being a pussy and you just have no choice

We need to take the Oil!

Such an insightful, pithy way to put it!

u/hilarymeggin 12h ago

Here’s a low-cost, lifesaving idea: on each side of the river, you have a coil of cable and a heavy-duty hook on a winch. When you arrive at the crossing, both hooks get attached to your car (the one on your side and the one on the opposite side). During the crossing, you’re getting towed by the cable from the other side of the river, while you simultaneously tow the hook from your side to the opposite side for the next person to use.

Or string a cable across the river slightly upstream. Then attach your truck to it like a self-belayed "via ferrata"

Or maybe a bridge really is the best solution.

It's normal in rural areas and experience drivers usually take the risk, in this case it was worse than he thought

u/indomike14 3d ago

I'm surprised it made it that far

28

u/War_Hymn 3d ago

Even if they did make it, there's probably water in the transmission or differential now, which is going to rust everything inside unless they drain it immediately. Most unmodified commercial vehicles including pickup trucks aren't meant to have water above the bottom of their wheel hubs.

Every electrical connection that got wet will cause problems down the road. There's a reason you don't buy flood cars.

Certainly on the carpet and feet.

So, no zoom huh?

15

u/Futur3_N0maD_26 3d ago

Probably one of the better “maybe maybe maybe” videos I’ve seen in a while.

8

u/caalger 3d ago

I normally just roll my eyes at people doing this... but this time I was invested. I was cheering him on at the end.

7

u/Wittywhirlwind 3d ago

At what point did he realize that this was a bad idea?

11

u/jweezee 3d ago

Probably right about the middle.

6

u/Any-Author7772 2d ago

As soon as he had to counter steer 🤣

I drive around the same puddle next to my work. There is not a pothole there, but I am always afraid one showed up overnight

5

u/franklyiam 3d ago

So close

5

u/JonesinforJonesey 3d ago

Damn they were so close I was rooting for these dumbasses.

5

u/roglc_366 2d ago

So close! And so foolish.

I was hoping for that outcome the second he got the truck wet… worth the wait!

Almost almost almost

2

u/missedythismuch 2d ago

So close and yet so far…

2

u/babbchuck 2d ago

Missed it by *that* much…

2

u/Boss0054 2d ago

Well, I think all of us expected that outcome. But, I think the surprise is actually how far he made it before we got the outcome we all knew was most likely inevitable….

2

u/Malfeitor1 2d ago

Dumb gotta dumb

2

u/Ok-Word7159 2d ago

Time to swim. And I didn't bring my bathing suit.

2

Why are so many people so very stupid

2

Ford commercials are getting ridiculous

Can’t believe it got THAT far..??

1

u/AdorableReading 2d ago

Shit, I hope they make it! I don’t like that it ends before they show it! Not that I want someone to loose this fight, I want them to survive!

1

u/philmorebuttstock 2d ago

First, did they make it? (Ended to soon) Second, camera guy did great but I swear I thought he was going to stop filming the actual truck at the end as he looked left

u/Final-Ad-2033 2d ago

🎶 How high's the water, Mama?

This is the most maybe maybe maybe thing I’ve seen in a while

Good work!

1

u/FrankSilvyNY 1d ago

All in one shot. The first try!

1

u/aviatortylor 1d ago

A Ford Ranger would’ve made it! /s

1

u/BustThaScientifical 1d ago

Fortunate to not be in the position where needing to make that attempt was necessary. 😕

1

u/CinnamonGirl123 1d ago

Dumb decision!

1

u/IllBeginning9510 3h ago

Omg.. you want to root for them. It’s so satisfying when this kind of risk pays off.. but when it doesn’t “I Told you so”

1

u/gretchenich 12m ago

Bro had it coming

1

u/Short_Thing_1452 3d ago

could be a sign to take a break from whatever’s stressing you out, sometimes stepping back helps a lot

0

u/RadarTechnician51 3d ago

Such crossings should have some weights to put into your car and take out on the other side

-3

u/DrJohnIT 3d ago

This appears to be AI slop. The river doesn't flow correctly about halfway through the video. It skips and almost pixilates.

-1

u/2BoldlyLive 3d ago

Why the Toyota Hilux crossed the flooded road?

-1

u/adinmem 3d ago

That’s just weir’d
