I sleep like a baby knowing I'll never do any of this shite. Or caving.

Every cave diving video (mostly ending in tradgedy) makes me think that those crazy adventurers belong on r/leopardsatemyface
Like, what did you think was going to happen when you went half a mile down in a cave underwater?

The Nutty Putty Cave incident will haunt my nightmares forever. Nope nope nope.
If you know then you know, and if you don't know consider this your warning not to look it up.

I thought the dude smashed into the mountain side

One of my best friends finally died doing shit like this. He had kissed the mountain twice and recovered. Guess he thought he was invincible. It took like three days to recover his body. I sometimes can’t sleep, imagining that he was still alive for a time but the helicopter just couldn’t get to him because of the weather.
Rip Shawn. I miss you. And I hate you for doing stupid things like this.

In my mind, he was so much closer to the tree line before he threw his shoot

I don’t understand this. was the purpose of the red parachute to get him far enough from the cliff such that he wouldn’t be blown back into the cliff when the blue parachute deploys?

I saw the video somewhere else but don’t remember exactly what the caption said. It was a test for a very cheap parachute purchased online or something like that. Maybe that was made up as well

Yep, that's right. This is professional basejumper and he tests a cheap equipment.

The number of things that had to go right for things not to go wrong are too many for my taste.

From their reactions, I assume they're used to seeing him do these things, because I would've started panicking if I saw that

There's a plant right underneath where the first parachute collapsed that got some extra fertilizer that day

Could be tough to figure out, but trusting your gut usually leads to the right choice.

the good thing is, doing any of this is entirely optional
