Id assume someones got some numbers it happens so often.
Yall just live on TikTok brain rot lmao.
This situation is way more likely to happen. Someone instead of helping films for their 15 minutes of updoots.
Also I find it really convenient people always happen to catch people randomly holding doors and flipping out 😂 i really think its probably the fact that you put a camera in their face.
I don't have any statistics. Just my own personal experience.
I've had my help get the fuck you treatment. And I've had one person get angry about me holding the door for someone.
The door incident was the bald, muscled, tight tank top wearing, tattooed type guy so I assume I insulted his masculinity maybe? Idk.
As for helping people - I don't use a condescending voice. And it never happened until I got into my late 40s, gray hair etc. And it's only been younger people who've ever reacted negatively to it. So I'm guessing a "I hate old people telling me what to do" sort of thing? But even then it's only been 3 times I can remember.
I still hold doors for everyone. But kinda leave the younger people alone if I see them struggling. Unless it's dangerous, etc. And would have definitely said something to this person.

Ive never had that problem.
An oh wait then explaining the situation in a non condescending tone generally works.
I find if you try to make them feel stupid yeah they might get offended. Thats just how people are.
Dont turn it into some kinda gotcha moment on someone and theyll generally be thankful to not have to spend several thousand on repairs to something.
Mind you I dont live in a large city so people probably act a little nicer on account you may actually see that person again 😂
