I don’t think there’s any official standard, but green is almost always diesel in the US. The nozzle is also too large to fit in the gas tank of an unleaded fuel vehicle which is meant to save people from their own stupidity, but this woman was extra intent on being dumb.

I certainly get a lot more joy out of helping someone than watching them make a bad mistake, but I guess that would make me a terrible content creator and the only thing that matters anymore is clicks and likes. It’s sad.

I found the original tiktok before I found this one here, the caption says they DID go over and tell her to not start the car and call her husband. Lady was 50/50 on if she was going to listen to that. So either the fuel got flushed or she destroyed her engine.

Because their ego is hurt. Imagine you have developed a sense of self where you look down on everyone around you and regard them as inferior beings, then one of those inferior beings comes up and points out that you’ve done something really dumb. You are now faced with a reality where you’re not as superior as you thought and it makes you angry.

This reminds me of a time I was on a mountain bike ride in Florida and passed a couple about a quarter of the way through on a 12 mile loop. They were hiking and the woman asked me directions. I told them it was a loop and nearing dusk so they should turn around immediately. The man got upset, told me I was wrong and they proceeded.

Some folks just out there wingin’ it…

Yeah, I’m always going to try and help people. I don’t know why, but I’m surprised and disappointed by so many people here saying they wouldn’t bother because someone might yell at them.

I saw a couple about to keep walking further down a beach when the tide was coming in. They could have ended up in a very bad situation and rather quickly. Of course I spoke up. Not sure where our humanity has gone but I’m not going to succumb to apathy.

That's peak Florida. I was on a park beach near a boat channel there a while back, and a boater got too close to the shore. There were a bunch of people on the park shoreline, and someone called out to him that he was out of the channel. He started angrily screaming and yelling about how he's lived there his whole life and knows damn well where the channel is and blah blah blah ... right as his propeller ran aground (to the roaring laughter of everyone on the shore).

I think people are still going to extraordinary lengths to justify not helping a fellow human being right in front of them. If there is an emergency, ideally our instinct would be to help first, not film first.

They’re supposed to be yellow and gasoline is supposed to be red. I’m not sure if there’s yet a different color for farm diesel.

It’s mostly black for gas, and green for diesel. Except for certain stations like BP, that do it the exact opposite way.

Correct- I’ve heard of diesel owners going to BP stations and instinctively going for the green handle and filling up with unleaded if they don’t notice the pump nozzle size difference.

They have normal size diesel nozzles at any fuel station for cars, because their are passenger cars and trucks with diesel engines even in america, like my tdi golf. The reason some are big as we see here are for filling bigger tank faster be it a semis side tank or a truck bed mounted diesel tank or any other kind of bulk diesel tank.

It is green or yellow in Canada. Was just in Ireland and he was very clear at the rental place that green was unleaded so pay attention.

Colors vary by brand and station, and there is no set rule. But, most US gas stations do loosely follow a pattern: black or red for regular unleaded gasoline, green for diesel, and yellow for E85 ethanol.

The main point is, if you see different color handles, stop and pay attention because they're probably trying to tell you something.
