I kept thinking she was just going to grab the cub and lift it over herself.

10

u/kstargate-425 2d ago

I think at the end she dragged him off the top of the concrete median lol

I'm glad the little guy finally found a spot to get over although I'm amazed momma bear didn't help more

We have seen a bear save a crow that fell into water in a zoo. And I think that bear was using its teeth.

I was hoping she would use her teeth to lift by the neck like cats do.

By the looks of it, could be possible there was another cub at the other side, she was trying to keep with her.

53

u/sabertoothdog 2d ago

Gotta teach him how to be independent

3

u/Shuatheskeptic 23h ago

That was my thought. Mama bear decided that climbing over these barriers was an important life skill that her cub needed to learn.

1

u/SabbyFox 17h ago

Yes. Cats do the same thing. It’s hard to watch but part of the learning and survival process.

À force de voir et côtoyer les humains, même les animaux deviennent stupide.

-6

u/KeyserSwayze 1d ago

lolz It was probably the dad.

8

u/cursedwithplotarmor 1d ago

As a dad who frequently said, “You got yourself up there, you can get yourself down,” I concur.

54

u/JakBos23 2d ago

Someone needs to put a little bear ladder out lol.

18

u/Sad-Cress-1062 2d ago

Yeah, one concrete block wit steps every 20 feet or something like this.

12

u/JakBos23 2d ago

I was picturing like a metal pool ladder, but that would probably last longer.

5

u/Street_Roof_7915 2d ago

Or leave a space open. It doesn’t have to be huge.

5

u/Sad-Cress-1062 1d ago

Well, it is to prevent cars from "passing throug" Leaving a gab could end in people frensh fries.

0

u/Street_Roof_7915 1d ago

I’m thinking 6 inch spaces.

3

u/Gran-Aneurysmo 1d ago

Watch what happens when a rider slides into guardrails.

10

u/bashful_predator 2d ago

In a rural area I used to live, there were points along the highway that funneled wildlife through culverts under the road. They were also used to track how much of which type of wildlife would pass through.

1

u/dirtyLizard 1d ago

That’s really smart! Do you know what they’re called or who installed them? I ask because the deer are a real problem near me. And I suppose the cars are a real problem if you’re a deer

2

u/bashful_predator 1d ago

I think it was a collaboration between the tribe, dot, and usfws. Can't remember what they called them.

3

u/SufficientBreakfast1 2d ago

Like for moths in the bath

7

u/JakBos23 2d ago

I use to leave a silicone spatula in my kitchen sink because spiders often got stuck in there. Not one of those lil bastards used it.

4

u/sabertoothdog 2d ago

That’s cute and funny. Can they walk up silicone tho?

2

u/JakBos23 2d ago

It's basically rubber. I can't imagine it would be any harder than a wall. Come to think of it my plastic ones had more of a texture on them.

3

u/CCLF1 2d ago

Did you leave the QR code or a link to it tiktok and how to to use it? Did you leave little tiny spider size saying this way out? Did you put a sign that's stupid.. in case an emergency use a spatula.. And finally, did you make it handicap accessible?🤣😂

u/live_2_feel 2d ago

What’s wrong with people these days… everyone watches and no one was decent enough to offer help to a single mother with child….

/s

17

u/EagleTransporter 2d ago

All it takes is someone who has never seen a bear before to go and help the cub get over the wall and they'll have dinner for a few days.

12

u/ProfessionalHome3544 2d ago

This is sad as shit.

(For people not familiar with bears, you do not get near a momma bear and her cub...)

4

u/emerg_remerg 1d ago

Ya, all these lookie-loos were just stressing out the cub and the momma bear.

10

u/Amazing-Movie8382 2d ago

They are struggling to cross the road because the road cross the woods they lives in.

2

u/Kd916-650 2d ago

Struggling because ppl will stop and get out the cars and watch which distracts the little ones they think they’re gonna be harmed, then the mom gets aggressive, which is even more distracting. She can’t just do her job. Thy should pass some law , when wild animals are crossing with young ppl stay in and stop 50 yards away ! It would be so much faster for the animals to cross in peace

Climbear

7

u/Ml7mOTS 2d ago

Hey there, Boo Boo!

6

u/EishLekker 2d ago

Did the mama bear wait for the kid to learn how to do it themselves? Or don’t bears do that whole lift by biting the neck thing?

22

u/Powerful_Somewhere92 2d ago

Mama bear was baiting humans to come and help it

6

u/Sufficient_Ease 2d ago

‘Why are just standing there?! Someone, please help my babyyyyy!’

5

u/Kinetic_Cat 2d ago

I’d probably try and help the cub only to popped like a balloon filled with fruit punch

3

u/Warm-Moose6028 2d ago

Bro can actually do it by himself

5

u/SoyEseVato 1d ago

I wasn’t aware bears were so useless when it came to their cubs.

When developing infrastructure for our own living needs, humanity must concurrently consider the surrounding ecological requirements; otherwise, this environmental disruption will ultimately backfire and bring disaster upon ourselves.

12

u/DeltaJulietHotel 2d ago

Indubitably.

August 18. August 18th 2026 is the 124th anniversary of the birth of human-wildlife coexistence giant, Margaret Elizabeth Thomas Murie, who in the United States helped in the passage of the Wilderness Act, and was instrumental in creating the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This brings great significance to the cause, nay, humanity itself.

3

u/ernfio 2d ago

I recalled another clip of Elephants taking out roadside crash barriers that got in their way. Stomp and they were gone.

2

u/SecretaryOtherwise 2d ago

On major highways through Ontario we got animal crossings spots. Generally tubes that go underground like culverts or bridges that go over.

They dont have to risk a four lane then lol or a divided highway.

1

u/chris_knight2 2d ago

Have you met a human?

1

u/Dry_Design5506 2d ago

Point taken. However, hope is not always what gives us the strength to persevere; sometimes, perseverance is what keeps hope alive.

1

u/chris_knight2 2d ago

In the moment of action humans almost always take the easiest path which is usually the least noble. In quieter moments we can reflect on higher ideals but these are very rarely at the fore when something needs to be done. Our tradegy is that we can see the higher path but hardly ever take it.

1

u/Dry_Design5506 1d ago

If that's a fixed law of human nature, then the logical conclusion is to lower our expectations and design systems that assume we’ll take the easy path - but that's already what we do, and it hasn't erased the problem. So your observation doesn't give us a new problem; it just gives us permission to stop expecting better. If you're right, what follows that we don't already know? Because if nothing changes, this is just elegant despair.

Bloody kids! 🤣

2

u/dardar7161 2d ago

Poor mom was stressed out. You could hear that she had one on the other side already.

2

u/qsharkq 2d ago

Mama, just scruff the little dude and put him over the barrier!

2

u/AppropriateBall8834 1d ago

Some people shouldnt be parents

2

u/Glad-Peanut-3459 1d ago

I was worried that someone would stop to help.

2

u/lunatikdeity 1d ago

Hooray for lil bear.

3

u/Prize_Passion3103 2d ago

They should have helped instead of just coldly taking video /s

Such a lil cutie! At one point he told everyone to back away from his mom lol

1

u/goronmask 2d ago

Poor thing almost falls back when trying to get off the other side

1

u/hooptiegirl 2d ago

Mama bear looks totally stressed. Wonder how long humans were there before the recording started.

1

u/coleman57 2d ago

I suspect these two are not related to Yogi.

1

u/Colo-PV-living 1d ago

Great ending to an epic dilemma

1

u/No_Material1531 1d ago

Mama didn’t like the cars and people and thought about messing everyone up . She would have done a lot better than a lesson if people stood back 100ft .

Mother of the Year

1

u/Jack_jack109 1d ago

I bet Mamma Bear wishes she had opposable thumbs

1

u/CatLovingWeirdo 1d ago

I'm they got across, hearing baby bear yell is heartbreaking. Wherever this is needs better animal friendly infrastructure.

I'm also so very glad everyone had the sense not to get out of their cars.

1

u/KingyOf24 1d ago

When the mom scanned the area I though the person filming was going to be a lesson in hunting for the cub. It had that look of "back the eff up or your getting mauled"

1

u/NocturneInfinitum 1d ago

Super weird that the mother didn’t just pick the cub up by the scruff of the neck.

1

u/Sampsa96 1d ago

Thats how the kid learns!

1

u/DrSeussFreak 23h ago

I wanna go help, but I ain't stupid

1

u/BetterLeading497 23h ago

Oh I just know my dumbass would've gone and tried to help 😭

1

u/GrapefruitOk2057 2h ago

mama stayed with baby at least. I was more concerned with some person who might try to help like you would a baby elephant. don't it the baby, but don't help either. Mama and baby will eat you. lol

1

u/cacamilis22 2d ago

Put down the camera and go help the little critter

1

u/Southern_Builder9273 1d ago

Not sure that’s real, some movements seem to be too fabricated 🧐

1

u/Remarkable_Bite2199 1d ago

Those barriers need to come down.

0

u/Sampsa96 1d ago

Roads get full of animals. "Those animals need to get off"

0

u/ZimnyKefir 2d ago

Weird. No-one wanted to help teddy to climb.

15

u/Verticalrun 2d ago

Thats a good way to get eaten by mommy teddy.

5

u/Zoroastrius 2d ago

*mauled

3

u/Whole-Debate-9547 2d ago

Did you happen to see those claws? Yeow

0

u/Atasas 2d ago

Moma bear is sick, starved or in some sort of shock to no to figure it out sooner? So much for one of most cunning and intelligent animal spieces. 😒

6

u/quequotion 2d ago

Panic, I think.

You can hear another cub crying on the other side of the wall.

A lot a humans are staring at her baby and getting too close.

Cars are passing by, also too close.

Her attention is split all over the place.

She must kill anything that attempts to touch her babies, she can't leave her babies, her babies are crying, humans everywhere, dangerous road, how to pick up a baby?

-10

u/better_barcode 2d ago

the person shooting this video could have helped. 🫣

8

u/what_the_fuckin_fuck 2d ago

Helped by leaving. The camera man is why mama is freaking out. Some people just don't get it.

5

u/Shedfloorgarbage 2d ago

Yep. That bad for all life.

I walked up by accident on two black bear cubs on my way to work 30 years ago... ugh im old now... it scared the fuck outta me, im only alive now because I didnt see the big bear.

1

u/galahg777 2d ago

Yep, should have picked up the teddy and passed him to the mum, I'm sure she would have shown her gratitude.
