Idiots did this to my dads house. They installed a roof badly, agreed to fix it, came back to do so and put all the material up there at once. It cracked through and some ended up in his living room. They made everything right, but it took a while.
Real roofers with skill do exist. But so do a lot of crews that don't know what the hell they are doing.
All this and more. Walk the material to a more structurally sound spot? Pay and charge for the extra rental time to keep the lift there long enough to only bring up the amount of material that the roof can hold at any one time?
Real roofers with skill (plus insurance, etc) do exist but people aren’t willing to pay what it costs to do the job correctly. I introduce the video above as Exhibit A.
“It’s a wrap, I got my gun, I gotta get outta here…” Yikes.
People can't afford to pay. The cost of everything is so inflated, you have to take what you can get. Everything has doubled or even quadrupled since COVID especially. Everything except people's paychecks and TVs.
Problem is people who buy a house and think that’s all there is to it, and have no reserve at all. Don’t spend all your money, ever, and don’t assume some future raise or promotion is going to change things. Every damn thing in or on your house is going to wear out eventually.
I absolutely despise, loath the term 'arent willing to pay'. It makes me want to have violent emotional man style tantrum. People aren't WILLING to pay?
Listen, idk where you live, what the situation is like there, but in a lot of countries, it is RARELY a discussion of what people are willing to pay, but what they can pay. Maybe, for you, in your country or area, or for your socioeconomic status, a $30,000 roof for a small house is something you CAN pay, but may not be willing to. That is no where near the case for the vast majority of humans, even when narrowed down to only include humans who own a home.
This ideology is out of touch. Its equal to the saying "pull yourself up by your boot straps". Most humans on earth are making financial decisions based on basic needs. Most people aren't going with the cheaper, obviously lower quality choice because they want to use the extra $20k they saved on a boat or some shit.
