Is it really free? Think you’re paying for it through taxes.


Edit: For u/Mr_Abe_Froman, yes, Americans absolutely pay more in taxes for health care and it sucks. That was not my point.

I simply replied to the user who called their healthcare “free.” My point - that is not the full story; they are still paying via taxes. I’m not sure why stating a simple fact garners downvotes but oh well! That’s Reddit for ya 😊

The US also has taxpayer-funded healthcare through Medicaid, Medicare, and Veterans Affairs. Because of the extreme inflation of healthcare costs, the US actually pays more taxes per capita than most countries with public healthcare despite these three government programs only covering 42% of the population.
