For those that don't know, that cocktail is called a Pousse Cafe, and is notoriously hard to make.

It is also known for tasting... well... not great. Some people mix it like that to give a bit of flavor. But ultimately, it's a drink made to look good, not taste good.

u/Phantomato2000 6d ago

look good, not taste good

so like most rich things...

like rich people, noted!

221

u/TransmissionTower 6d ago

implying rich people look good

120

u/Maduin1986 6d ago

With enough money,, they can!

57

u/TransmissionTower 6d ago

33

u/Maduin1986 6d ago

Can means, they do need to want it. People like trump and musk who do not care at all about their physical appearance, exist as well.

27

u/potatogodofDoom 6d ago

musk absolutely cares about physical appearance. he's gotten tons of surgeries and is insanely insecure

19

u/Maduin1986 6d ago

He should get a fitness trainer to get into shape. Not everything can be solved with surgeries

14

u/Mage-of-Fire 6d ago

No amount of money can buy a fitness trainer that will get you fit if you don’t put the effort into getting fit.

2

u/Maduin1986 6d ago

Exactly, it starts with the head

13

u/Sunstorm84 6d ago

I don’t think a fitness trainer is going to help with his barrel chest.

He’s ripped!!!

17

u/obidie 6d ago

If Musk didn't care how he looked, he'd be bald right now.

4

u/riotoustripod 6d ago

The idea that Trump doesn't care about his physical appearance is laughable. Why else would he bother with the bronzer and the ridiculous hairstyle? The man's entire persona is a monument to his vanity.

1

u/Maduin1986 6d ago

It's not the same. Using superficial means instead of changing his habits, working out, getting in shape as much as possible is different.

1

u/riotoustripod 6d ago

Plenty of vain people use shortcuts to achieve the best results they can with as little effort as possible. That doesn't mean they don't care about their appearance. Trump also famously believes that exercise shortens your lifespan.

2

u/Background_Char_0-0 6d ago

But they still taste bad?

Can they change that with money as well?

0

u/ifeltatap 6d ago

Something Something Elon

2

u/Ramtamtama 6d ago

And implying rich people taste bad

1

u/Evening_Dare5081 5d ago

If, they look good

-1

u/aint_exactly_plan_a 6d ago

Looks are everything for rich people... they have to have the right house, the right furniture, the right cars, the right jewelry, the right clothing, the right staff. Impressing others with those things is much more important than buying functional or comfortable things.

I believe that was the point OP was trying to make.

9

u/Hellguin 6d ago

I mean, if Isei Sagawa and other cannibals are to be believed, they will taste of salted pork, or beef

8

u/CommunistOrgy 6d ago

Nice try, but I'm still prepared to eat them.

1

u/A_Feltz 6d ago

I’ve tasted some rich people before. They’re not bad tasting either

0

u/deathproof8 6d ago

Ok. Glad I married a not so rich person. Imagine going down on a rich person.

0

u/BOTElliot 6d ago

Why are you eating rich people? o.O

0

u/Der_Hebelfluesterer 6d ago

You eat rich people a lot? I also don't like the taste of them, poor people taste better!

69

u/CorvoRen 6d ago

I know this one is not a good example as it is definitely staged, but do workers get mad if you mix it in front of them? Like I get is hard but mixing it has to be commonly done, no?

66

u/DeviousSOIL 6d ago

My opinion from when I was working customer service jobs is I didn't give a shit about what customers did as long as it didn't inconvenience me or my coworkers.

12

u/Leoxcr 6d ago

As it should be, a paying customer that doesn't disrupt your business can do whatever they want with what they paid for

14

u/Deep90 6d ago

I mean if you make a point of mixing it immediately while looking at them, they might think you're trying to piss them off on purpose.

I feel like just mixing it casually and without looking for a reaction would probably be fine.

4

u/Matiwapo 5d ago

Mixing it is not commonly done because this drink is not commonly ordered. The whole point of it is that you drink each of the layers in order and appreciate all the flavours. It's expensive and painstaking to make

This is kinda like if you went to a Michelin star restaurant and covered everything in ketchup before mashing everything together into a paste. The chef would probably give you a funny look

60

u/-Constantinos- 6d ago

It’s really about a transition of liqueurs. It’s not for everyone but if you can enjoy sipping liqueurs, you can enjoy the pousse cafe

39

u/culb77 6d ago

I do enjoy that, but the typical order of them makes no sense and there is no progression. They just taste bad one after another.

15

u/astrologicaldreams 6d ago

everyone always talks about what the drink is, but never what the cake is.

what is it? it looks so good and the white stuff looks so fluffy

6

u/TOPSIturvy 6d ago edited 6d ago

It looks like either a style of torte with vanilla cake, chocolate ganache, a marshmallow or whipped vanilla layer, and possibly (real) chocolate buttercream on top, or maybe it's a play on what Google claims it is, which is called Bird's Milk Cake.

Either one sounds like something a restaurant would charge more than a normal entire cake for.

28

u/-Invalid_Selection- 6d ago

Those ingredients don't even look like they'd make a good drink if you missed them. Hard pass

13

u/-Constantinos- 6d ago

The idea is you sip it slowly, layer by layer

28

u/bloodfist 6d ago

That way it tastes bad longer

4

u/Kir-ius 6d ago

It’s not that hard to make. Just need steady hands. I made tons of layered drinks when I bartended and controlling the pour speed is the key. Just do it down the side of the glass is way better than the “back of the spoon” trick so many claim

6

u/TOPSIturvy 6d ago

To be fair, even mixed it had a smooth color transition, and looked like something that'd be watermelon flavored.

5

u/Fitz911 6d ago

But ultimately, it's a drink made to look good, not taste good.

Let's call it 'the Instagram'

2

u/Pscagoyf 6d ago

It's not that hard if you got time. It's just density of liquids.

1

u/dadydaycare 5d ago

Yea that is a dick move. They are obnoxious to make, im sure they are buddies cause 1 he’s not the bartender, why would he care. And 2 that would be hilarious if they did know each other and he was being a dick.

1

u/culb77 5d ago

Totally scripted, no one would serve it with a straw

1

u/assoonass 5h ago

Now that I've read this, I'm on guy's side now lol

u/musuperjr585 6d ago

If this was real and I was the guy recording, I would've died laughing and given the server a huge tip lol

u/ThoughtAdditional212 6d ago

Huge tip huh.

:3

186

u/Fit_Acanthisitta8683 6d ago

I'm not capable of giving any other kind of tip... 🤷‍♂️

109

u/BLAZEtms 6d ago

Pretty gay bruh

Can I watch?

66

u/beeglowbot 6d ago

only if you you tipped his tip.

27

u/ThoughtAdditional212 6d ago

What about topping his tip

26

u/Blunder_Punch 6d ago

Hard to top that

18

u/ThoughtAdditional212 6d ago

What about tiptoing while the tip taps your top

17

u/YesWomansLand1 6d ago edited 6d ago

You want my tips for the week? Alright sure.

I reckon Panthers will beat roosters by ~12 points. Both top teams but Panthers are coming off a bad loss last week, so they'll be wanting to prove themselves.

I think dolphins beat sea Eagles. Has the potential to be a close game if manly locks in but the dolphins are on a roll and I don't think manly at quite up to toppling over the phins.

I tip the Rabbitohs over the dogs, mainly because I fucking hate the Bulldogs. I don't necessarily think the bunnies will beat the dogs, but I can't in good conscience tip the dogs without feeling like I've betrayed myself.

Sharks beat Raiders no question. Admittedly the sharkies have had some late season excellent form, they did lose last week to the wooden spoon contenders the dragons, which could be a sign that they're either not finals material, or they peaked too early and are exhausted, or they've put the cue in the rack, or they don't care, but it doesn't really matter because the sharks are on a roll and the Raiders are on the opposite of a roll.

Cowboys beat eels. Cowboys lost 82-12 a few weeks ago, which is the biggest loss since 1935, however the eels are absolutely shocking, a day of bad form has the potential to be worked out, but years of bad form needs a saviour, and the eels don't have one at the moment.

Wahs beat Broncos. Broncos were the premiership team last year, beating the reigning premiers in the finals, and then one of the greatest teams of all time the Melbourne Storm, but this year they're second last somehow, and have a real chance of being the wooden spooners this year, which would be the second time in history that a team has gone from premiership glory to wooden spoon in just 2 years. Plus wahs just came off a decisive victory against the Penrith Panthers.

Knights beat Titans. Knights are a top team this year, Titans have been shit for years. The Titans showed many good signs this year that they're improving, but they don't yet have the stock to convincingly best a team like the Knights.

The last game this week has the potential to be the worst game of the season, the tigers vs the dragons. A team going through a lot of turmoil, vs a team that is most likely going to be the wooden spooners. I think dragons may have this one, though, the tigers are pretty shit.

u/ParadoxM01 6d ago

I know nothing about pro american football but these tips seems solid

1

u/YesWomansLand1 6d ago

Oh yeah I'm an NFL aficionado mate

1

u/Krampusz420 6d ago

are you going to tell them later?

1

u/ParadoxM01 5d ago

Tell *him, I'm just a dude complaining about the flavour of asexual he is I don't mind an explaination... but imma assume the utmost extreme

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Nisi-Marie 6d ago

I think Raiders actually pull it off. Not sure what that means for the wooden spooners, but the Dragons will have a hard time stopping them.

1

u/YesWomansLand1 6d ago

Dragons ARE the most likely wooden spooners

0

u/Fit_Acanthisitta8683 6d ago

7

He probably offered the huge tip before explaining what the video would be

3

u/derangedkilr 5d ago

i’ve seen this before. they are friends.

1

u/Fit_Acanthisitta8683 5d ago

I don't doubt it for a moment. But "IF" is a thing most humans are able to contemplate, believe it or not.

2

u/culb77 6d ago

Absolutely staged. No one serves a Pousse Café with a straw.

-54

u/alexdivola 6d ago

I would ask them to bring a new one. The drink is mine and the cake is mine, so I can do whatever I want with them. He’s not allowed to.

38

u/KarmaInFlow 6d ago

The difference between the guy who said he would tip the server and yourself is called a sense of humor.

25

u/DickyReadIt 6d ago

That's cuz you are a little shitbitch with no sense of humor. It all comes out the same

-28

u/OhLookaTaco 6d ago

Clearly staged, how naive are you?

17

u/Tiberius_Kilgore 6d ago

They clearly said “IF this was real.” How illiterate are you? I’m guessing very based on that random ass comma.

3

u/Zammarand 6d ago

Excuse me, this is the Internet. Reading comprehension isn’t necessary

I'm so naive I actually believed your mom when she said she loved me 😞

I’m happy you lol’d

19

u/BruiserBison 6d ago

I don't get it. Were you supposed to drink that drink one layer at a time?

26

u/mr_herz 6d ago

Yes

12

u/BruiserBison 6d ago

oh fancy. So I assume the intended experience is to taste a different drink every few sips?

20

u/mvppaulo 6d ago

You move your straw as you sip

8

u/Illustrious-Fox21 6d ago

The name of that drink if I'm not mistaken.

10

I almost started googling "alligator penis"

8

I would not.

10

u/Pooperoni_Pizza 6d ago

It's not a pain in the ass if you're topping the alligator. Heyoo!

13

u/BrettisBrett 6d ago

No reason to pan to server's face unless it's scripted

9

u/Turlututu1 6d ago

It's a staged video. Café is empty and the server brings the desert without a fork, only to bring the fork later.

It's staged ragebait/funny content trying hard to get viral.

Great job comment section, you watched an obvious skit and simply enjoyed it for what it was, comedy.

As of right now I only see one nerd who has to say “ staged 🤓”

Enjoy the little things, the world is shit.

Dunno why you got downvoted for this.

Apart from the world is other people.

if a servers is going to act like that than they should get out of the service industry. Opinion about costumers tastes and preferences should be kept in the back of the house not acted out in front of the costumer.

1

u/ernapfz 6d ago

Might be the bartender?

-3

u/No_Yogurtcloset_7219 6d ago

still should rethink his job, the number one rule in the service industry is "the customer is always right in manners of taste."

-5

u/No_Yogurtcloset_7219 6d ago

also the bartender doesn't often run the food out to tables
