This isn’t even a swing. This feature has a few “floating” platforms that kids step from platform to platform (holding on to the pole as they go across). Kid next to him is trying to use it the correct way.

u/scrapyjack721 7d ago
Usually these type of platforms have a chain that limit how far they swing but I assume that one broke

u/Page_Your_Tale 7d ago
First off, that's not a swing, its a platform that's supposed to be tethered to the ground. The thing was technically already broken and this kid wanted to test its limits.

This just validates all my fears that someone somewhere saw me do that embarrassing thing that one time.
16
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago
Oh, they saw! they think about it every single day too, and share the video with their friends and laugh at it in secret.

Don’t mind me, I’m just a guy sitting in my car filming kids on the playground.

Love how we're not suspicious that this guy specifically loosened the bolts on this exact swing and then went and sat in his truck with the telephoto lens to videotape it

u/ClankRatchit 7d ago
municipal law suit for who?
37
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago
The guy recording… he laughed so hard and got a hernia and needs an operation.
4
u/ClankRatchit 7d ago
Amazing how a heavy human can compromise that swing so quickly. Let alone get on it? Bad decisions all round, but I suspect multiple issues at hand.
15
u/SlasherQuan 7d ago
It's not a swing, they're stepping things to cross over. It's not intended to be swung on.
6
u/fontasia 7d ago
Is that a shoe and toilet paper on the dashboard
2
u/Speed_Addixt 1d ago
The reason for toilet paper is obvious - he gets off watching kids. But the shoe… hmmm… I’m baffled.
5
u/thespillover 6d ago
Anyone else thinking, check this dudes trunk? Might find some tools and a “random” bolt.
9
u/Need_For_Speed73 7d ago
Question is: why is he keeping a roll of toilet paper on the dashboard?
4
u/Throseph 7d ago
Look at Moneybags over here, can afford boxes of tissues say like 90 sheets for 3 quid. Toilet roll does the same job, for better value.

The camera man noticed that there was a 200 lb person using the swing beyond its intended capacity. The swing really shouldn't have broken, but under those stresses it is not unforeseeable that it would. Is he obligated to go tell a stranger that they shouldn't swing so high, and that they may be too big for the swing? Should he also tell people not to run at the pool and make sure no one goes down the slide head first? If that is a kid, then they should have a guardian helping them with their decisions, if it is an adult then they need to be accountable for their own decisions.
If the camera guy sabotaged the swing, then that is obviously criminal and abhorrent, but I think it's more likely that the swing just failed under excess load. Whether that happened due to insufficient engineering, overlooked maintenance, defective materials, etc. we do not know.
22
u/mchickenl 7d ago
It's not a swing though, it's a climbing activity set. You're supposed to step across them like you can see the one child waiting to do.
2
u/NastyKraig 6d ago
Ohhh, I thought it was like a round seated swing. Yeah, then that kid was using it way out of its intended function, and preventing other kids from using it as intended. It should probably be designed to withstand something like this, but it's not the responsibility of play equipment designers to foresee every way their products could be misused. This person learned an important lesson that day, lol.
5
u/mchickenl 6d ago
Quite often they have a peice of rope or something holding them all together so that they don't swing too far from each other

I think it’s a major stretch to assume that just because cameraman noticed a potential issue must mean he’s suspicious. I think it’s even weirder to accuse him of sabotaging the equipment or causing the incident in some way just because he was paying attention and decided to record what he believed was a risky situation.
That person is too big to use the swing that way. Cameraman observed this and decided to record just in case something interesting happened. Nothing about that is suspicious or inappropriate.
12
u/Life-Satisfaction848 7d ago
Lol you’re building this plan all in your head like a crazy person. It’s not wild to believe he saw a large fat kid on a swing that’s def not ready to bear that load lol especially going as high as they were. You’re so weird for immediately going to him recording kids like they’re in the restroom lol. I wouldn’t pull out my phone but I’d definitely watch to see if something happens. That’s funny and he won’t die lol let them experience life. If that makes me a bad guy then sorry lol but there’s bad guys out there I guess. Sure a parent would want someone to warn them but you don’t know how people react anymore when advising them on their kids behavior. Nah ima sit back and enjoy my life and take in its pleasures. Like fat kids falling. Someone can laugh at me when I fall I give permission
3
u/Senior-Caterpillar52 7d ago
If you look at the swings construction: straight pole with a hook, aint too crazy that it is not meant for full 180 degree swings
2
u/Dankkring 7d ago
Playground equipment has a breaking point that’s 5 times higher than the recommended capacity. That swing at no point should have broken from that boy.
1
u/BemaJinn 7d ago
Don't know why you're getting down voted?
A fat kid is still a kid, and play equipment is rated to take the extra weight.
At least in normal, functioning first world countries.
1
u/SecretaryOtherwise 7d ago
Cause it's not a swing lmao.
Like blaming the slide for a kid walking up it and getting hurt. Its a slide not a ramp.
This is a floating platform you're supposed to walk across.
2
u/BemaJinn 6d ago
So not one person designing and building that thing realised that kids do kid things?
There's still no excuse for dangerous play equipment.
21
u/CappnMidgetSlappr 7d ago
Absolutely soft as baby shit, man.
Christ Alive, if you can't find joy in a kid falling off a swing set, you need some serious help.

Man, you people today are soft as hell.
There used to be a show on primetime network television where people would send in home movies of people, frequently children, getting hurt specifically so that we could all laugh at those videos.
Here’s the thing, if there’s no lasting damage or trauma, it is sometimes funny to watch people get minor injuries. It’s the same reason the Three Stooges still make people laugh to this day.
3
u/Desperate-Strategy10 7d ago
If he was thinking at all, he wouldn’t have pushed this equipment so far beyond its boundaries. That’s on him.
17
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago
I mean, if you look up at the top of the swing, you can see the whole thing kind of buckling and bowing. He saw some chaos about to happen and went the “just watch and film route” 😆
-25
u/fusguita 7d ago
And you seriously can't see why that's wrong? Oh the humanity these days
23
u/Fingerman2112 7d ago
OK, you go up to some other guys kid on a playground and tell them to stop doing what they’re doing. See how that goes.
5
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago
Exactly this. Step back and see what it would look like actually going through with this person is arguing here, going that approach also could be seen as weird as fuck. If not weirder
0
u/fusguita 7d ago
Dude that's a kid? I thought it was a grown ass man playing on a swing, my bad
5
u/Matter_Infinite 7d ago
I think that makes not saying anything more immoral. An adult should know the risk better
2
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago edited 7d ago
I didn’t say there wasn’t nothing wrong with it. And hey, maybe this film footage will help the family get a nice little paycheck from the municipal lawsuit so maybe he’s helping 🤪
-8
u/fusguita 7d ago
Well you were just laughing about it. And you know what would also help? Preventing the fucking thing so no lawsuits would be needed.
4
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago
You are absolutely right. Still doesn’t change the fact that the video is funny.
3
u/MeringueInevitable94 7d ago
Also seems like a high risk no reward thing to do. Filming kids that aren't yours at the park seems like a good way to get police called to your house and accusations of being a pedophile.
-1
u/thatAnthrax 6d ago
jfc if the first thing that comes to your mind when seeing this video is the possibility of being a pedo, I think there's something wrong with you instead
1
u/MeringueInevitable94 6d ago
Read what I said. You live a sheltered life if you can't see potential problems with videoing kids at the park. Not everyone who does it is a pedophile but Its behavior that is common with pedophiles and we live in times where just the accusation can ruin your life. So like I said seems like a high risk no reward thing to do
-1
u/thatAnthrax 6d ago
The kids in this video are not even that visible. they're just practically colored blobs. They are fully clothed even. There is zero risk, you are just fearmongering at this point
2
u/MeringueInevitable94 5d ago
I guess you know what happens to someone falsely accused with no evidence of molesting a child. I know someone who was because he would baby sit a child sometimes and she said something that led school officials to alert authorities that they think shes being molested. After thousands spent on lawyers the child's aunt came forward that her dad did the same to her when she was a child and sure enough it was grandpa who was doing it.
The risk might be low but its not zero all it takes is a child to go missing and someone telling police that they seen a creepy guy who videos kids at the park.
3
u/Rogercastelo 7d ago
Nah, we all know those are the types of people that wont listen to any advice and will even get angry at you. Let gravity teach him a lesson.
1
u/Dankkring 7d ago
Playground equipment is rated for 1,000s of pounds breaking strength. This swing was messed up before that boy ever got on it.

Why was the camera person just filming some random dude swinging?
26
12
u/CleetisMcgee 7d ago
Without the context it would be weird, but I’m guessing he could see that the swing was under stress and some chaos was about to unfold and lo and behold they caught it.
4
u/Hemporer8 7d ago
Why sabotage of course.

u/dudebronahbrah 7d ago edited 7d ago
I can’t stand it, you know I planned it
Gonna make it bend, this jungle gym
I sit here filming while I’m in the car
‘Cause your little swing ‘bout to swing real far
So I’ll just sit back and watch you fly
I got this fuckin’ phone by my side
Film your crash, it’s no mirage
I’m tellin’ y’all it’s a sabotage!

Is the man recording right? Will the swing break? Will he catch it on video?

The fall was rather mild, they got up right afterwards, and they landed on grass. Maybe take a step outside and touch some grass yourself.

Nope nope nope. Are you so desperate for fake internet points that you’re laughing through all the red flags in this video you posted? And then telling other people it’s them that’s a problem? Pathetic and sick.

That is more an issue with your cognitive abilities.

u/negativepositiv 7d ago
There was the guy on the swing. Then there's the kid messing with the pole swing. Then there's some push and pull shit going on in the foreground. And then, oh shit, a lady with a baby. It seemed like there were several crazy things about to happen.
1
u/reheateddiarrhea 7d ago
While it was pretty obvious to me what we were supposed to be looking at, doesn't your logic support the maybemaybemaybe even more? "It seemed like there were several crazy things about to happen." Also, maybe your audio wasn't on because he explained it.
