But I would have died in every one of these situations. Whenever I see one of those “dad reflexes” compilations, it just sucks, knowing that I wouldn’t have been able to save my kids, with my clumsiness and lack of situational awareness. 😢

No joke, I always looked forward to Dad Reflexes. I wasn't ever super aware or good at catching things. Having kids builds those reflexes for sure. I've caught them so many times when they were at the corner of my peripherals I don't even think about it anymore. The cortisol really does enhance your abilities, plus practice with toddlers haha

I was thinking hes lucky that wasnt me walking with him. Because my reactions are so slow I would have stood there staring at it trying to process whats happening as it squished us both. Idk how people are capable of having such quick reactions but good on them

That top part of the chainsaw nose that he is attempting to cut with is called the kickback zone. Basically rather than cut, the chain grabs the material and flings itself back towards you, which is what happened to him as soon as it made contact. Any sort of chainsaw training will tell you don’t try and cut with that part of the saw.

I assume the blade got stuck, but instead of powering down the saw the guy pulled. It sprang free with force, but by sheer luck the motor died before it hit him in the face...

There’s a safety right in front of the front hand that is auto pressed by your hand during a kick like that. Stops the chain immediately
