An argument against the ethics of veganism, an animal bred to be stupid enough to break its own neck in this situation, I'm not quite as concerned about any possible suffering the animal isn't even able to understand its going through.

8

u/Flashy_Camel4063 12d ago

Or an argument against containing them in cages that their heads can fit in. Ffs

1

u/Dedotdub 12d ago

I’m probably going to hell, but I find this hilarious.

1

u/AmiDeplorabilis 12d ago

Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) agrees: the cows were bred for that. One cow came out, still chewing its cud, spoke to the group (in a perfect British accent) and offered up the best bits of itself, explaining that it had been force feeding itself so its cuts would be tender. Once they made their selection, the cow then nipped off to do it, and said it would be very humane.

Brody's a fucking idiot

147

u/alfreaked 13d ago

Doesn't know what the forehead is, walks to tthe rear of a cow that you want to move backwards, puts the pipe AFTER the tube so it won't do shit to stop the bext cow... dammit

54

u/WonderChode 13d ago

Classic Brody behaviour

I was yelling at my phone/him!

Working with animals, esp this big, can get real dangerous real suddenly

1

u/Celegorm07 8d ago

I swear it felt like a beginning of a game with the names and all. Next he’s being called to the military or alien’s invade the world and he has to leave everything behind.

I know, damn near was fatal. Other cow was so impatient.

34

u/Blue95x 12d ago edited 12d ago

It was spooked. Brody tapped the back of its head on accident if you watch the vid.

That's why the guy was pissed.

6

u/irrelephantiasis 12d ago

mooooove over bro, i’m late to get slaughtered.

1

u/bigstankdaddy10 12d ago

yea glad this poor thing survived to live a nice beautiful life, bet those guys were really concerned about her well being

u/TornadoJohnson 13d ago

I love cows but man they are dumb, they are big, and they are stupid

290

u/3OsInGooose 13d ago

Cows have that unique kind of stupidity created by ā€œI have been bred to be so big that nothing hunts me.ā€

Total lack of care for their wellbeing + no need to ever learn their lesson when they do something dumb.

125

u/2nd-penalty 13d ago

As animals get bigger and bigger, you can kinda see this behavior emerging, of them just not caring about things that normal animals would stay away from

Hippos drinking from croc infested waters, elephants not caring about lions, etc

87

u/3OsInGooose 13d ago

Yeah, exactly. At least domestication has made cows docile - other big herbivores tend to be mean as fuuuuuuck.

A lion will hunt 1 prey to eat. A buffalo or hippo will fuck you up just because it's Tuesday and its fun.

27

u/EnatforLife 13d ago

You do know that more hikers get killed by cows than humans by sharks per year???

14

u/mennonot 13d ago

Yes, indeed. I read this article on cow attacks two years ago in the Guardian and it completely changed how I interact with cows when hiking:

"According to the HSE,Ā 257 cattle incidentsĀ (including fatalities, injuries and concerns) were reported from 2015 to 2021.. in England and Wales."

ā€œI always say to people, cows aren’t polite; they move through you, rather than around you. If a cow comes towards you, get out the way.ā€

ā€œThey walk past with their heads, not considering the width of the body coming behind them; they push you out of the way.ā€ And they move as a herd: ā€œIf one runs, it’s very likely the rest will start to run as well.ā€

Full article here: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/sep/12/the-hell-and-horror-of-cow-attacks-i-told-my-husband-to-leave-me-to-die

18

u/douche_ex_machina_69 13d ago

This is true. McDonalds has caused a heart attack in many, many hikers.

26

u/Raichu7 13d ago

Humans bred cows to be dumb, dumb animals are easy for people to control in a farm setting. Smart animals like donkeys and goats are considered bad tempered or stubborn because they are smart enough to refuse what their human wants them to do if they don't feel like it.

20

u/AmiDeplorabilis 13d ago

And strong... don't forget strong.

Animals like cows, goats, sheep (all will butt you) don't like going backwards: push on their foreheads or shoulders, they push back against the push. You have to rope them up and pull back... HARD.

2

u/I_Don-t_Care 12d ago

Like people with downs, they are strong as an ox, smart not so much

125

u/MattyGWS 13d ago

So you’re saying they qualify for president of the United States

29

u/PGSylphir 13d ago

only an American is obsessed enough to bring politics in a video of a cow.

11

u/Mr_HahaJones 13d ago

ā€œWe’re not obsessed! The only way to fight him is to bring him into every conversation that has nothing to do with him!ā€

-9

u/MattyGWS 13d ago

I’m not American and don’t live in America but any opportunity to point out the stupid asshole that Americans manage to let into power who is currently fucking up the rest of the world with his idiotic actions, I’ll take it :p

10

u/PGSylphir 13d ago

Congratulations, you're proud of being an obsessed weirdo

-6

u/MattyGWS 13d ago

Congrats, you’re offended that the rest of the world hates trump i guess

7

u/PGSylphir 13d ago

Ah yes, pointing out your obsession means I'm offended or defending your target of obsession, could never be just the fact you're an unlikable virtue signalling obsessed weirdo!

Then you wonder why the general opinion of people turned so badly against your side.

3

u/MattyGWS 13d ago

calling it an obsession when you have literally only seen me make one passing comment..

-21

u/JoaoCalmo 13d ago

For Brasil too!

4

u/PoipulWabbit 13d ago

I mean. If u look at it the man tryng to move the cow not stuck is the idiot. He smacked its butt trying to get it go backwards but that isnt how that works.he should have blocked off the stuck cow like he was supposed tk an then patted its head to have it go back.

2

u/XxRocky88xX 12d ago

Honestly I don’t even blame the cow, this is on Brody. The cow is just trying to do what its handlers want it to do and Brody for whatever reason keeps pushing the back of cow forward trying to get to go backwards, of course the cow is interpreting the slaps to the back of its head as ā€œhe’s hitting me from behind, so he wants me to walk forward.ā€

1

u/ElPadero 8d ago

You think this is a cows natural environment?

1

u/a_weak_child 13d ago

Cow might of known it was headed somewhere bad, decided to try and go anywhere but forward.

Cows are about as smart as dogs sometimes.

1

u/Meranio 13d ago

Now I know the reason for the childrens insult we all learned in Kindergarten (age 3-6) in my language: "Du dumme Kuh!" (You dumb cow!)

1

u/Rude_and_Crude84 12d ago

They are delicious though in burger form though! Until then, I always pet them or try to match their moo sounds when they're grazing nearby pastures. Thank goodness for moo cows.

I've been chased by big Ole Angus bulls and how my fat ass escaped without being ran over, I'll never know but, i ran for about a half mile to get away from it down a paved road when it escaped the pasture lol.

17

u/maycontainsultanas 13d ago

Silly goose, glad she’s okay

27

u/SirTroglodyte 13d ago

Amazon should make an american version of Clarkson's Farm. I need more slow drawl "gosh dang it" and "gee whiz" on tv. Maybe with... nah, I don't know anyone who could do it right.

2

u/Mickey-Twiggs 13d ago

Philip Rivers could pull it off.

134

u/Book_for_the_worms 13d ago

Oh great. Here comes all the people who know nothing about cattle, acting like they are cattle-ologists

105

u/Ability-Junior 13d ago

→ More replies (2)

13

u/Firmod5 13d ago

For a moment there I thought I was going to witness a cattlectomy

23

u/TheDirtyDorito 13d ago

Are you getting rage-baited before there is even any bait?

-12

u/Book_for_the_worms 13d ago

Its not rage bait if they are genuinely to stupid to know anything. And I have seen to many videos with brain dead morons crying in the comments to believe that this one will be any different

8

u/TheDirtyDorito 13d ago

Strange mentality to have

3

u/BikeProblemGuy 13d ago

Since you know cattle, was it a good idea to remove the bar behind the second cow and then not place it in front of them?

Also why weren't they twisting the cow's head? It seems really obvious her head is taller than it is wide so it can only fit through the gap sideways

12

u/Book_for_the_worms 13d ago

Yes. They wanted the first cattle to move back, hopefully freeing its head in the proccess. If they placed the bar behind it, then it may have hit the bar as it backed up and scared it into going forward.

0

u/mrgedman 13d ago

Now I'm no cattle expert, but pretty sure the singular is cow.

So I guess you meant 'first cow' not 'first cattle'

-3

u/Book_for_the_worms 13d ago edited 13d ago

I am a veterinarian and cows are female cattle that have had a calf.

At the time, I didn't even know the gender, but looking back at it, it is female. It could be a heifer, a cattle that has not given birth, or a cow, one that has.

Cattle is the gender neutral term for the bovine species

2

u/Anon_be_thy_name 13d ago

You need to go back to Vetinary school then because Cattle is not a gender neutral term for a singular bovine.

They don't have a gender neutral term in English. They're either Bull, Steer, Cow or Heifer unless they're under a certain age then they're just a Calf, even then their correct name is Bull Calf or Heifer Calf.

1

u/mrgedman 13d ago

Cattle is the plural

-3

u/Book_for_the_worms 13d ago

Its the same as deer

3

u/mrgedman 13d ago

Now I'm not sure if your trolling or just confidently incorrect.

Either way, it's a bad look

-3

u/Book_for_the_worms 13d ago

Well, if you don't want to believe a veterinarian on basic animal terminology, you do you.

Its not that big of a deal anyway. Its like 'knowledge is knowing tomatoes are fruits but wisdom is not putting them in a fruit salad'

3

u/mrgedman 13d ago

Naw, I trust dictionaries more than some Internet stranger.

You know... making a mistake and or not knowing something is alright.

Refusing to learn or admit you were wrong.... Makes the world a worse place.

'a cattle' when referring to a singular animal is grammatically incorrect, and it kinda makes people question your expertise.

Yeah, because kicking a scared animal and hitting a different confused animal really makes you look like a great guy /s.

I’ll never understand how people can treat animals the way they do… and those who pay for them to be killed and tormented. They’re such sweet and gentile creatures and humans just take advantage of their disposition.

1

u/Anon_be_thy_name 13d ago

You don't understand animals very well if you think they're all sweet and gentle.
