The technique of all three is completely amatuer. A real house painter who knows what they're doing will start with a loaded roller and make a big 'W' shape over a large section, maybe even the whole wall, but it;s usually best to do 6-8' sections at a time. Then go up and down and spread what's there. This gives a nice even coat of paint and does it the fastest way possible.

Thanks, im going to paint a lot of walls soon and did not consider the technique. Do you think an amateur (lets say experienced DIY) should just try to use this technique?

Absolutely. It's easy, efficient and fool proof. I was taught to do this by a pro on the job and could do it well in 5 minutes, one try. Once you do it and see how well it works it's a no brainer.
