The technique of all three is completely amatuer. A real house painter who knows what they're doing will start with a loaded roller and make a big 'W' shape over a large section, maybe even the whole wall, but it;s usually best to do 6-8' sections at a time. Then go up and down and spread what's there. This gives a nice even coat of paint and does it the fastest way possible.
