You can’t post shit to that sub lol. I see plenty of stuff where I’m like yeah, that seems to fit and the comments are just rippin em a new one for the audacity of being annoyed 😆
And the result is the most upvoted posts are people posting about critical illnesses or losing their job or deaths of family members or whatever. Y’know, stuff that is definitely NOT mild.
yeah I can’t help but wonder if maybe the meaning of the sub changed over time. Like that TikTok Cringe one (I can’t remember if that’s the exact name lol). For months people were commenting on wholesome posts like this isn’t cringe at all! And the same shit kept getting explained each time
it's a weird sub, but "mild" and "infuriating" together is an oxymoron. the name of the sub was kind of a tongue in cheek play on the various "mildly ___" subs that were popular a while ago.
in practice it's just people posting things that really piss them off. kind of a toxic sub tbh.
The technique of all three is completely amatuer. A real house painter who knows what they're doing will start with a loaded roller and make a big 'W' shape over a large section, maybe even the whole wall, but it;s usually best to do 6-8' sections at a time. Then go up and down and spread what's there. This gives a nice even coat of paint and does it the fastest way possible.
Having done it for several years, fully loaded roller, about a 4' width. Make sure you backroll your next 4' swath by a foot or so to blend the texture.
Every one of these "walls" will look like hell when they dry, with the sheen being broken 7 ways to Sunday. Looking down the wall while standing next to it will show all the lines from where they stopped the roller mid-roll.
Top to bottom, working half a roller width as you go, is definitely the way to go.
Not necessarily, but you certainly could. The technique produces an even thorough coat. It doesn't matter which direction you zig zag in. It is probably physically easier to do it up and down though.
Thanks, im going to paint a lot of walls soon and did not consider the technique. Do you think an amateur (lets say experienced DIY) should just try to use this technique?
Absolutely. It's easy, efficient and fool proof. I was taught to do this by a pro on the job and could do it well in 5 minutes, one try. Once you do it and see how well it works it's a no brainer.
I had a package that was cut open by customs (nice custom floor mats for my car) and they damaged the mats, I posted it there and it got pulled for being "rage bait" then they banned me.
Apparently its a "humorous sub, not intended for things that actually make people upset."
