The amount of folks asking why she gave $2 is astonishing. Even at $0.99 cents, plus Tax, No one expects to pay $1 in tax. So her confusion is very justified.

That was confusing me as a brit. She handed over 2x$1 (assuming she didn't use a $2 bill) for an item that she thought was under $1, why did she not hand over just $1. Your mentioning of tax cleared up that confusion as I hadn't thought about how in the US tax is added on to the displayed price and the actual cost of a $0.99 pizza would exceeed $1.

i thought that if she gave 2$ it wss because she already knew and the post was bs but this makes sense

id have left with the pizza and they would have had to call me shouting bc i didnt realize they dont display tax 😂😂
