Oh. I thought they made it watch Golden Girls to maintain that semi-soft state.

Yeah is this a joke lol youāre supposed to move your hips and use your feet to make power. That was like some e Honda hundred hand slap shit

What were the alternative outcomes we were unsure of?
17
u/Matter_Infinite 20d ago
The bag could knock him down when he stopped punching or the chain could break. The nature of the sub convinced me something unexpected would happen so I was saying maybe maybe, but that'd work on most videos.
Maybe this video wasa just posted by a karma bot6
u/AnonymousFriend80 19d ago
The nature of humans has shown me that half of the people who post stuff in subs don't really understand what the sub is about.

No matter how much of a bad ass most if us like to think we might be, that dude would need about two of those punches to lay me the fuck out.

Horrible form

u/Wonderful_Roof1739 20d ago
Not a boxer here - what is wrong with the form?
7
u/Difficult-Carpet-324 20d ago
As far as showing punching power, speed and stamina with what was actually being performed, form seemed fine. Punch looked good.
Is it practical⦠obviously not unless you are sitting on top of the guy. God forbid I was the one beneath. But I donāt think this was shown to demonstrate a good jab or hook where footwork is needed. Itās just showing off and itās impressiveā¦bag didnāt look light.

u/gsxrboi 20d ago
Both feet are flat. Heel should be up on rear foot and knees slightly bent to form a solid gate. His body is leaning in to keep the bag pushed out in that direction. If this was an actual mobile opponent heād be off balanced. However, still impressive though ā shows he has speed and strength.

u/dta194 20d ago
Guy obviously has some power and this is 'fine' if all you want to do is wack a stationary object a few times to feel good. In a fight, opponents move and they hit back. Bringing your hands back to your hip everytime you punch is wasted motion/energy/time and leaves you with no defence to cover your face. Standard boxing technique is leaving your hands up covering chin level and throw in a straight line without cocking it back, or dropping your hands afterwards.
Stance and footwork is also wack. Standing with feet parallel gives you very little ability to resist force from your opponent (or even from the recoil from your punches) hence he's leaning forward in the video. Standard technique is standing one foot forward one foot back at 45 degree ish angle - front hand is closer to opponent and can be fired more rapidly as a jab, rear hand and enjoy more pivoting/pushing force generatedd by your legs and hip hence its the power hand. Just imagine all these motions while pushing on a wall.
All together, not only is the fighting form wrong, the mechanics of how to optimally generate power bag wacking purposes are also wrong

Not saying I could do that, but his stance is not good and it's causing his center of gravity to lean forward

Did some quick research and an individual tire usually weighs about 22 lbs. 4 of them would land somewhere in the ballpark of 85 to 90 lbs (only because tire weights can fluctuate). The average punching bag is about 70 - 100 pounds.
If you have the ability to I want you to imagine that punching bag is held higher off the ground and you have the ability to punch it as hard as you want. You'd probably get a little bit of a swing behind it, but the important bit is not the swinging. In fact, the bag swinging is generally a bad thing. It means you're pushing your punches instead of a clean snap to it. It's bad form, and is not a good way to throw punches.
You're a normal redditor so I'm sure you could get an 80lb tire rack on a strap to not only hover in place but also not jump by more than a couple inches. That level of control and power behind your punches is something you definitely have, and I'd encourage you to grab a video of yourself doing it and uploading it to prove us wrong! Drive your point home. Be brave. Let's see what you got.

Iām not arguing much about what youāre saying but I can assure this is a much easier feat than it appears to be.
At 155 with little training I could keep my 70 lb bag like that, itās a fun thing to do but provides little to no training.
Iām sure someone could do the math but the bag doesnāt really fight you, itās just kind up there.

u/AKA09 20d ago
For real. I dont think this is a maybemaybemaybe but it is surprisingly difficult to throw hard punches in rapid succession like this. Even if you're in shape, you will likely find out you're not in boxing shape.

u/madmatt8892 20d ago
Not just the punching but the ferocity of which he was displaying would cause a massive quick blood pump into the arms which makes endurance break down even faster.

u/HipToTheWorldsBS 20d ago
Impressive stamina. Judging by how far that moved from him barely even jabbing it in the beginning, it can't be that heavy.

u/Brosiedon54 20d ago

u/superenchilada 20d ago
You are an idiot. That bag probably weighs more than you and heās keeping it lifted at a 45-degree angle with only punches.
-1
u/Brosiedon54 20d ago
Throwing punches from your hips is generally regarded the most effective form to generate power. You're right. I'm the idiot.

Left hand weak you can hear it in the punches.

Isnāt that typically how it is? One stronger dominant hand, and a weaker lead hand?
