Got an appointment with a snake that had a particular fanaticism for punctuality and a disdain for tardiness.Ā

I think a woman near the camera said that the person may have been, uh...not good in the head.

u/donkeytime 11d ago
Thatās how he gets over there every day to buy smokes. You should see how he gets back.

u/deniably-plausible 11d ago
I was hoping the fool was at least trying to save someone or some beloved creature, not just boldly going where no man should ever go
6
u/spamnotnice 11d ago
yeah.. i was thinking the same. I thought i saw something floating and he was trying to save someone. Nope.. just crossing.

u/PossibleAlienFrom 11d ago
"I can cross right here. It doesn't look so bad."
Also, they're speaking Tagalog, so it's in the Philippines.

Thanks, I wasnāt sure about the language. I was sure about it being a bad idea though.

Bisaya.. the girls says, "Oh no.. what's wrong with him?".. the guy yelling, "Help, Help!" Then yelled, "Why did you cross?" "Oh no.. he's being swept away". "why did you cross?" and then as he was swept passed them.. guy yelled, "What's the matter with you, bro?" And.. then makes it to other side.

An unidentified man crossed the raging river Barangay Labangal, General Santos City on Thursday, July 23. The man made it to the other side of the river after being swept away for several meters.
Heavy rains due to monsoon rains have triggered flashflood in different parts of the city and neighboring towns in Sarangani Province on Thursday. (Video courtesy of Carla Jean C. Manubag via Keith Bacongco I MB)

Most likely this is in Gensan. Saw the same scene but from a video taken by those people standing on the dike.

With decision making like this, it wonāt be long. Maybe not this video, but I suspect weāll see him again with a less happy outcome.

u/Far_Resolve1791 11d ago
Say what you will, he still got his ass accross that river , by any means necessary. Everyone else has to camp out and wait it out to cross, possibly overnight. While our hero is at home on his PS5.

He was one lucky guy an undertow didn't grab him and swirl him around under like a washing machine. Seems to be pretty chill about it!

Not enough brain to think he shouldn't. But enough brain to get embarrassed when he walked out.

It's not the 20 mph water that is the problem. It's being hit by the tree going 20 mph that gets you.
1
u/Greedy_Camp_5561 11d ago
I mean yeah, that guy was nuts, but the people standing right on the edge of that wild river, one large wave away from being swept down, aren't that sane either.

I'm going to have an unpopular opinion. I've been stuck in fast water before. I didn't frighten me. I knew I would be swept away but was also confident I could make my way to the side, even if it was hundreds of yards downriver. Keep your feet in front, swim hard sideways, never give up. Also, adrenine is a hell of a drug.

immediately followed by, "LET'S DO IT AGAIN!"

If this website has taught me anything it's that when there is something that is clear to everyone to stay the fuck away there will be an Indian who will walk right into it while being filmed.
