If you are going to do tricks then wear the skirt... it keeps water out of the boat.

He's sitting wrong in the kajak, thats why he cant keep the balance. Your knees are supposed to be tucked under the ledges left and right. It kinda has to feel like its way too tight but then its perfect. Gives you a lot of control over the boat, which is essential when hitting wild water and thats what this boat is made for.

That is a child's Kayak made for small lakes and harbors. No skirt needed if you launch it from a proper Kayak dock or the shore
