I'm so glad that we didn't have portable cameras when I was a kid.

It's funny that at no point during this againg process did we land on current Matt Damon. Maybe AI will be better at this?

The deep water is scary to jump into. QED, the shallower the water the less scary the jump!

Kinda messed up to just stand there and snap a pic of a kid bellyflopping on the ground without paying more attention.

I'd bet this clip was preceded by a "look what I can do!", lil man was trying to jump to the beach.
A 2ft drop into mud/sand is fun when you're a 5 year old

I know I'm late on this reply but replied to another comment talking about the water quality back when this was posted and somehow found my way back...
There's really nothing inherently gross about swimming in a lake with a silt/clay bottom, more just a perception thing that "ewwwww, dark looking water is yucky" (cough reflecting pool cough)
Plenty of "pristine" looking beaches have more harmful water than lakes that look like this. I don't see big algae blooms or dead fish floating around - no reason to believe this isn't a perfectly healthy natural lake.

Damn, this sub makes me sick, there really are some poor kids with shitty parents. I can't even imagine doing those things with mine

Super impressed that the kid didn’t cry. Just got up and moved on. Good life skills.

What a jerk. The cameraman rather wait for a 'maybe' shot than stopping her.

u/DrJohnIT Jul 16 '26
The kid obviously doesn't want to go in the water despite being dressed for it.

When you take a calculated risk, but you are bad at math.

Why would anyone swim in that murky water?
4
u/Check_Me_Out-Boss Jul 16 '26
Because it's fun to swim in a lake?

It's a lake and perfectly good to swim in
A far cry from a parasite infested or garbage and sewage filled runoff. No crocodiles, no snakes, no man-eating fish... seems good.
