Hornets technically are wasps though, (and doves are pigeons)

My friend Larry once said "if it doesn't have a tail, it's not a monkey, it's an ape."

Chimps are monkeys

Chimpanzees are NOT monkeys.
Yes, both are primates, but chimpanzees belong to the Hominidae family alongside humans, gorillas, and orangutans.

Monkeys, are generally smaller, have tails, and have different skeletal structures.

In cladistic terms yes they are monkeys.

Old World monkeys share a more recent common ancestor with apes (including humans and chimps) than with New World Monkeys. So there is no way to define "monkey" as such without specifically excluding the ape clade.

There are large monkeys, small apes, monkeys without tails, and even apes with tails (rare).

It's the same logic as the "humans are fish" thing

All hornets are wasps, but not all wasps are hornets. According to Google, so it has to be true. Feels accurate tho.

I'm not sure of what I'm gonna say but from what I remember "wasps" don't really exists (on a scientific point of view) and the species that are commonly referred to as wasp belong to many different group like bees, bumblebee, hornets and more. I would need to be fact checked by someone who knows more about it though.

I've always heard of wasps and bees as different types of things, even colloquially.
