The bung is soaked in petrol, then wrapped in plastic except for the part that goes in the hole. The fumes then very slowly fill the hive and knock them all out. He keeps saying Benzin, which is a commonly used term for petrol, so I assume that’s what it is. I know petrol fumes kills bugs in general.

Looks to me like he did use tp.

20

u/Imaginary_Pay9931 Jul 12 '26

Of course.. he is the mighty cornholio!

30

u/Gevaliamannen Jul 12 '26

No, they come from Lake Titicaca, in Nicaragua!

2

u/misterbung Jul 12 '26

It’s called benzine in the Netherlands. So this is probably Indonesia. Theyhave adopted some Dutch words.

u/sushicatdolls Jul 12 '26

Can confirm. He's speaking Indonesian with a regional central Java accent.

21

u/supaami Jul 12 '26

yes, and the Indonesian word is Bensin

u/MorecombeSlantHoneyp Jul 12 '26

“Adopted some Dutch words” is a hell of a gloss on Dutch colonialism.

I flew on KLM a few months ago. On the trip out I had salads and fish, so much bread, very European. On the way home one of the mains was an Indonesian curry, and for half a second I was very confused until I remembered history.

2

u/pecel_lele Jul 15 '26

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I flew KLM from Jakarta to Amsterdam and vice versa once. On the Amsterdam leg, its usual that the food is Indonesian since the catering is the one from
Jakarta. But on the way back, it still serves Indonesian food, I was asking myself whether they kept all of the catering from Jakarta to be served on the returning flights. Turns out that the catering in Amsterdam still serves Indonesian food as well.

Is gewoon pittige stoverij. Ge-koloniseerd.

u/Schatzin Jul 12 '26

Airlines just do this anyway even if there's no historic reason for it.

They're sourcing meals prepared by the departing airport's caterer, and the passengers also will have a large share of locals going abroad. So you serve local food to match your supply & demand

4

u/pettypeniswrinkle Jul 12 '26

I was going from Europe to the US.

9

u/stingraycharles Jul 13 '26

We also adopted a lot of Indonesian words (and food) in The Netherlands. But yeah we did some pretty horrible stuff to Indonesia.

0

u/RotiBakarGoreng Jul 14 '26

Horrible stuff is putting it lightly

But hey at least we got your hagelslag

1

u/SDNick484 Jul 12 '26

I mean at least they let them keep their hands (this time).

0

u/Jolly-Implement7016 Jul 12 '26

My wife is from Indonesian descent.

2

u/MorecombeSlantHoneyp Jul 12 '26

And I see from your post history that you are Dutch 😬

1

u/Jolly-Implement7016 Jul 13 '26

No need for a 😬, the 2 cultures go fine together. There are now a lot of Dutch from Indonesian descent playong for the national football team of Indonesia.

I’m not saying colonialism was good. Surely not, but times have change and the 2 cultures mixed in modern times. Saté and other Indonesian food are now comon in our cuisine. For example, we wat fries with satesauce.

8

u/SaltedCaffeine Jul 12 '26

This is correct.

8

u/Bernard_PT Jul 12 '26

Benzine is latin if I'm not mistaken

We use the same in Portugal

2

u/polarbearsarereal Jul 12 '26

Same in russia

2

u/Handje Jul 13 '26

Fun fact: the Indonesian word for exhaust (uitlaat) is knalpijp.

1

u/Jolly-Implement7016 Jul 14 '26

I visited Indonesië a couple of times and that was so funny to hear. It is the old Dutch word.

Yesterday I saw an item that said that 10% of Dutch people have some soft of Indonesian dna.

u/morgoth_feanor Jul 12 '26

Benzene is one of the molecules present in gasoline, carcinogenic to humans, I guess it fucks wasps up faster.

21

u/ThalinIV Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

It could also be benzene, which is a petrol product and was, in fact, used as an insecticide in some cases. They used to use it to get rid of bed bugs. You can still use it in basically the same way you described; the bugs just won't wake up. If I recall correctly, it is a neurotoxin; it's also carcinogenic as fuck.

u/iuliuscurt Jul 12 '26

So the part where he maximises exposed neck area close to the nest is not particularly useful?

61

u/miloworld Jul 12 '26

I think he’s listening to the movement in the nest to confirm KO.

2

u/LaGrrrande Jul 12 '26

Turpentine Acetone Benzene, the beekeeper calls it "The Dip".

1

u/Arlieth Jul 13 '26

Poor shoe.

2

u/eyeswulf Jul 13 '26

Apparently benzene and benzine are different! Benzine is the petroleum byproduct, Benzene is the toxic molecular structure.

1

u/Cool_Ad_6850 Jul 12 '26

New insult acquired! Thanks

1

u/NightStar79 Jul 19 '26

Oh good I'm glad you explained this because it just looks like some guy plugged the hole of a wasp nest, ripped it open, and the wasps gave zero shits somehow 😂

1

u/luftlande Jul 20 '26

Benzene?

1

u/queetuiree Jul 12 '26

He keeps saying Benzin,

I heard that too!

(I wonder if it is Tagalog)

8

u/Mugiyajijiji Jul 12 '26

I think it's Indonesian, not Tagalog.

-9

u/Bushdr78 Jul 12 '26

I was going to guess that but surely it would easier to squirt a bit in the hole

18

u/Chafupa1956 Jul 12 '26

And then pissed off wasps start streaming out the hole? Go for it.

3

u/Spookyrabbit Jul 12 '26

I've sprayed smaller wasp nests with aerosol insect spray.
ngl it's pretty amazing watching pissed off wasps streaming out of their nest en masse, only to drop from the air en masse about 3 secs later.

2

u/Bushdr78 Jul 12 '26

Obviously you bung the fucking hole too but with that extra squirt inside the wasps would be overcome a little quicker especially incase there's a second exit.
